Tonight at 5:00 pm: Paul Rider’s art Show Opens!

Paul is a mixed-media artist and educator based in Concrete, showcasing an illustrative style within an eclectic body of work.

His pieces often reference historical figures, prominent landmarks, or whimsical situations, many of which are used as examples in his art classes at Concrete High School.

While this is Paul’s first-ever gallery showing, several of his works awarded ribbons at the 2026 Skagit County Fair.

He is currently working on a series of watercolor landscapes inspired by the beauty of the upper Skagit Valley and North Cascades National Park.

The change of seasons can be stressful, right? If you'd like to go from Mind Full to Mindful - and we have a workshop for you. On Sunday, September 27 and 4:00 p.m., we're offering "The Art of Mindfulness" at the Concrete Theatre.

Using simple techniques in a warm, welcoming environment, we'll focus on using our sense of touch, smell, taste, sound and sight.

Music, easy breathwork, and gentle stretches will help remind us of ways we can relax and let go of some of the busyness that comes at this time of the year.

You'll receive a complimentary journal to record your thoughts and reflections.

You might know A.J. Urquhart, the writer and director of "Hockett," a horror film set in Concrete. He's always been passionate about film, horror, and the outdoors, which he synthesized to create that movie.

He's also passionate about teaching others the art of independent filmmaking. That's why he's leading a workshop on that topic on Saturday, September 26 at 11:00 a.m. at the Concrete Theatre.

If you've ever thought about creating a film of your own, here's a place to start. Nope, it doesn't have to include horror! It could be about anything.

(In fact, if you created a short film about our mountains, lakes, trails or rivers, you might have your work included in the next Mountain Film Festival!)
