πŸ³οΈβ€πŸŒˆπŸ“š Thank you to everyone who joined us for "We've Always Been Here: A Q***r History Program for Concord Pride’ at the Concord Free Public Library.

We were grateful to learn from local historian and former National Park Ranger Meaghan Michel, who explored the history of LGBTQ+ life in Massachusetts. The program reminded us that q***r people have always been part of our communities, families, and shared historyβ€”even when their stories were overlooked or erased.

πŸ“ΊIf you missed the event, a recording is now available on the Minuteman Media Network YouTube channel: https://youtu.be/QDvghdURgbs

πŸ’ What if Grace Keyes and Elizabeth Wentworth Roberts could have gone wedding ring shopping in Concord Center?

Perhaps they would have stopped by . Grace, a champion golfer, and Elizabeth, an artist and founder of Concord Art, built a remarkable life together in Concord after meeting in 1900. Yet during their lifetimes, legal marriage was not an option for same-sex couples.
This Pride Month, we celebrate their storyβ€”and the progress that allows LGBTQ+ couples today to enjoy rights and recognition once denied to so many. πŸ³οΈβ€πŸŒˆ

Thank you to Fairbank and Perry, a Concord Pride sponsor, for supporting Concord Pride and helping us share Concord’s LGBTQ+ history.

🌈 The rainbow crosswalk on Main Street may have been temporary, but it certainly brightened Concord Pride weekend!

Thank you to the many people who helped make Concord's first-ever rainbow crosswalk possible. Special thanks to Mimi Graney from the Town of Concord's Economic Vitality Division for coordinating the project, the team at Public Works for their support, and the Concord Select Board for approving it. We are also grateful to Benjamin Williams and Rhett Mogan for installing the decals, which were produced by Sticker Genius.

Thank you, everyone! β€οΈπŸ³οΈβ€πŸŒˆ
