This Week’s Couple Spotlight: Devan & Max
Every great love story starts somewhere—this one begins in the seventh grade.
Massimo first spotted Devan during middle school and instantly knew there was something about her. She, on the other hand, had her sights set on bigger things—namely, college applications and absolutely no interest in boys. So, Max played the long game: the supportive friend in the background, secretly harboring a crush and keeping it cool for, oh, just a decade or so.
Over the next ten years, they lived separate lives but stayed loosely connected—summer hangouts, occasional catch-ups, and enough awkward teenage moments to fill a sitcom. Through it all, Max’s feelings didn’t budge. Devan, meanwhile, remained blissfully unaware she was starring in the longest-running secret-crush saga of their friend group.
Then, after Devan’s first ankle surgery—and possibly under the charming influence of post-op pain meds—Max saw his opening. With the courage of a man who had waited ten years and the precision timing of a rom-com, he asked her out. Whether it was the meds or fate, she said yes. And this time, it wasn’t just as friends.
That yes turned into a love that neither of them expected but both had been waiting for all along.
Fast forward to July 4th, 2024—her favorite holiday, complete with fireworks, beach vibes, and magic in the air. Right after the grand finale at Salisbury Beach, Max got down on one knee and asked her to spend forever with him. She said yes again—this time fully alert, tearful, and totally in love.
Now, the countdown is on. In early August, they’ll be surrounded by 150 of their favorite people as they dance, laugh, and celebrate their story—the long game that finally paid off.
Expect a big party. The vibe? Fun, festive, and full of energy. The soundtrack? A mix of wedding classics and throwback bangers from the '90s and 2000s—think alt rock, pop-punk, and plenty of crowd-pleasers. Their playlist is already shaping up to be a dance floor magnet, and we couldn’t be more excited to bring it to life.
Congratulations, Devan & Max. You waited. You grew. You loved. Now, it’s time to party.
