Still confused by some of the terms you’re hearing when shopping for wedding entertainment? Knowing the lingo helps you ask smarter questions, spot the difference between a great DJ and a mediocre one, and walk into every vendor meeting feeling confident. Part 2 is here. 👇

🎙️ Audio Engineer vs. DJ – An audio engineer manages all the sound in the room (mics, speakers, overall audio). A DJ plays the music. Sometimes one person handles both, but not always. At Precision Entertainment, we handle audio, lighting, and video all under one umbrella.

🔧 Setup – We arrive about two hours before your event starts. Your time isn’t touched. We set up the reception space first (speakers, lighting, photo booth) then head to the ceremony site for mic and audio checks, usually 15-20 minutes before guests arrive.

📦 Breakdown – End of the night, we pack everything up and clear out. Whether your party wraps at 10 or midnight, we handle it. We’re used to the late nights. 😄

The more you know going in, the better questions you ask and the better your day turns out.

🎵 Wordplay – When a DJ takes a specific word from one song and blends it into another song with the same word. It’s a legit skill and honestly one of the coolest things to watch.

🎤 Live Mix – More than just fading songs together. Modern DJs use specialized software to create quick, seamless blends in real time.

🥁 Scratch DJ / Battle DJ – The classic hands-on technique where the DJ physically manipulates the record or digital turntable. All skill, no shortcuts.

🎙️ MC vs. DJ – Your MC is the host. They’re in front of the room, guiding the flow, making introductions. Your DJ is locked in at the booth keeping the music going.

Knowing this stuff before you book means you ask better questions and get exactly what you want for your big day.
