Last night was about as professionally magical as it gets. ✨HOUR Magazine hosted a fun-filled event celebrating ‘The Best of Detroit’! I’m so honored and blessed to be a part of this elite group of businesses.

What started out as a concept, turned into reality through hard work, creativity, grit, passion, determination, and a whole lot of faith; Brie & Bamboo has grown into its own brand and culture.

Through word of mouth and social media, my little business has grown each year one piece of cheese at a time. I owe all of that to each of you, my loyal customers and followers. Your support and sharing the love of Brie & Bamboo with your friends and family is so very appreciated🙏🏼. I adore you, and love seeing your smiling faces each time we deliver your Beautiful. Happy. Ok, how do you describe someone like Carol. No words can sum up how admirable and truly incredible of a human being this woman is. Carol not only embraced Brie & Bamboo with passion, integrity, delivering excellence, but she also has helped build and grow my business, with her unwavering dedication to learning the Brie & Bamboo way. Astrance was the pinnacle of our dining tour in Paris. Once you’ve dined here, it is easy to understand why Astrance has been awarded three Michelin Stars. One would expect a stuffy experience dining at an elite restaurant such as this, however the maitre d and staff made us feel at ease, very welcome and comfortable. Speaking of comfortable, the dining chairs were the perfect combination of elegance and cozy. I could have sat there all day. The contemporary collection of art throughout was stunning. The bar was incredibly simple with a curated selection of one bottle of each type of liquor. Even the silverware was branded. Each serving of this eight course meal delivered the three star experience, from the shellfish appetizer of escargot, oyster, and clam each served in its own shell, to the warm caramel filled dessert topped with salted caramel, and served with a scoop of Baileys infused ice cream. At the end of our meal we received a tour of the kitchen, which had me giggling like a teenager with excitement. The kitchen was immaculately clean, so clean in fact one could wager if it was cooked in at all. The images speak for themselves. Please enjoy the eye candy.

A trip to Paris isn’t a trip to Paris without a little bit of shopping 🛍️. We had the bug to shop vintage. After doing a little research, we stumbled on the district of Le Marais. An ultra-hip district with loads and loads of vintage clothing shops. Our favorite is Nouvelle Rive. The boutique curated the coolest pieces of up-cycled clothing that looked and felt brand new. The owner was a mere 23 years old and had only been open for 10 days. She was absolutely lovely. I loved the fact that when Reese tried on an outfit and she didn’t love it, she said “don’t buy it, we will find something different that you love!” With this mindset, she will undoubtedly be a huge success. My next trip to Paris will be shopping in this district finding hidden unique gems. ✨

Le Casse Noix was the perfect place to hang our hats after a long morning of tours. Their comfort food hit-the-spot! We enjoyed, Boeuf cut longuement, carrots et salad de champignons, Jus au Xeres. Or in English, long-cooked beef with carrots and a mushroom salad, JerezJus. This melt-in-your-mouth meal was prefaced by hearth bread with a chicken mousse spread, and a spring pea soup. Another must try wine! So light and crisp! Perfect for an everyday summer wine and at a very affordable price point.

What my daughter cleverly called “Baking-Con”, was actually France’s national baking competition. It was located directly across from the Notre Dame Cathedral. Lucky for us, we were all really hungry after our tour and got a taste of the finest baking products France has to offer. Karma has definitely been on our side this week. Dinner at Kehribar was an absolute treat! Not only for the food, but for the opportunity to see the friends we met last year in Greece. They are the owners and operators of this authentic Turkish restaurant in the fifth arrondissement. We enjoyed their hospitality and the delicious savory food kept coming. We finished our evening with their homemade baklava and Maras ice cream. Baklava is one of my absolute favorite desserts and theirs was divine. I learned that Mara’s “ice cream”, made from tubers of a purple orchid found at the foot of Ahrid Mountain. It is a dairy free frozen treat that resembles ice cream and is hard to believe it’s vegan. I hope to be back to visit our friends again very soon.
