Our Story

Growing up in the 70-80’s in Greenlawn ,Long Island everyone spent most of their free time outdoors. My love and appreciation of nature was instilled at a young age by my parents. Watching And Helping my Mother garden blossomed into helping family friends with there garden projects. The confidence and trust they showed in me as a young man set the foundation of my lifetime career path. My Fist Job at the age of 13 was working at a perennial farm that I biked to after school. Growing and learning the cultural needs of the plants came effortlessly to me and was very rewarding.

After attending SUNY farmingdale School of Horticulture I went to work in East Hampton. The company was the largest and most prestigious firm on the east coast. This opportunity allowed me to work side by side with the Worlds Greatest Landscape Architects on some of the most influential Gardens of our time . After close to a decade of working in the Hamptons it was time to blaze my own path.

My wife and 2 children at the time moved back to Huntington And began searching for land to open our own garden center. With the birth of my 3rd Child named Acer “which is botanical for Maple Tree” occurring during the search it was fitting to name the store Acer’s Florist & Garden Center.

My family which has now grown to 4 children all of whom attend Commack Schools has given me the opportunity to come to love the Commack Community. Acer’s has always helped out with all local fundraisers and I have been coaching PAL Football for the last 5 years. The stores commitment to buying our product from only local growers has allowed us the reputation of high quality plants and Knowledge staff.
