This is what summer cooking looks like to me - simple and let the ingredients do the talking

In this case, I took some leftover lavash tabbouleh and hummus to put over some toast, featuring my homegrown tomatoes 😌

And a grilled dinner from Beechwold Farm Market that screams summer!

From her garden to my menu…this is what local sourcing looks like to me.

I recently stopped by Grace’s garden to buy one of her beautiful bouquets, along with some herbs and edible flowers, and ended up getting a tour of her herb garden too.

As an herbalist, Grace Gunk is extremely knowledgeable about gardening and edible plants. I learned that tarragon grows wild like mint and comes back every year, so guess what I’ll be adding to my garden next year? 😄

I love growing herbs like mint, thyme, and sage that can be expensive and not-so-great at the grocery store, so tarragon is officially joining the list.

I brought some of Grace’s herbs and edible flowers back to the kitchen and used them in dishes for my clients that weekend. Her flowers not only taste good, they elevate the meals I create for my clients.

It doesn’t get much more local than this!

Planning a wedding menu is a balancing act.

The best wedding menus aren’t about following trends. They’re about finding that sweet spot where the meal feels personal, memorable, and welcoming to everyone around the table.

I want the food to reflect the couple and the things they genuinely love to eat. But I also have to think about serving a room full of guests with different tastes, dietary needs, and expectations, all while staying within the couple’s budget.

That’s one of my favorite challenges of menu development!

The most memorable part of this birthday dinner wasn’t on the menu...

For Michaela’s birthday, every detail was chosen with intention, from gathering ten of her favorite people in her home to creating a meal that celebrated her birthday in a way that felt personal.

The menu included: A local cucumber, tomato and cantaloupe salad
Avocado and crab salad
Jerk-seasoned Bluescreek Farm Meats pork chops
Tres Leches cake

Shout out to Grace Gunk for growing the beautiful edible flowers that elevated these plates to another level!

Some weddings call for a plated dinner. Others call for guests gathering around a buffet, going back for seconds, and talking long after the plates are cleared 🤍

For Maddie and Alex’s intimate wedding at Idyll Reserve, they envisioned a menu that felt summery, approachable, and just a little elevated.

That meant letting the ingredients do the talking.

🍅 Heirloom tomato salad bursting with color and flavor.
🍑 Grilled peaches at their peak.
🍈 Melon wrapped in prosciutto so fresh it had never even seen the inside of a refrigerator.

One guest told us it was the best wedding food they’d ever had.

(There isn’t much better feedback than that!)

There’s something special about a table full of women who genuinely want to see each other succeed. 💚

Wonder Women, founded in New York City, brings exceptional women together for intimate dinners hosted in members’ homes. I’m fortunate to know one of those members, Regan, who is also one of my favorite clients.

This was my second time catering a Wonder Women dinner co-hosted by Regan, and I love how intentional these evenings are.

Everyone gathers around one table, shares a meal, answers thoughtful questions, and leaves inspired by the women around the table.

As someone who believes food has the power to bring people together, it’s exactly the kind of gathering I love being part of.

Thank you to Regan and the Wonder Women community for inviting me back. It was also a pleasure to gift one guest a week of Butter Leaf personal chef meals!

I already can’t wait for the next one.
