And we are confident that He hears us whenever we ask for anything that pleases Him. 1John 5:14
And even when you ask, you don't get it because your motives are all wrong-you want only what will give you pleasure. James 4:3
Many times we pray to God for wealth. Pray to God for ease of life. Pray to God to rid us of all problems and concerns. Of course, God wants to give us good things and a good life.
Yet, how many times have we spent a lot of time in prayer, but only for what concerns us. Do we pray for others? Do we take what God has given us and help others? Do we buy new cars and homes and expensive clothes, while watching others struggle to eat? Do we sit in our comfy lives while never lifting a finger to give someone a hand up or some encouragement. See, when God transforms us, you will find that your motives and desires change. You begin to cry for other people's pain. You begin to desire to take what you have and give it to someone else. You see a lost soul and cry out to God for their salvation. This is what He wants us to do. This is what He empowers us to do. He changes our cold, black heart to one that has a love and a care for others. And a love of self. Yet, one does not have to battle the other.
If you want to see your prayers answered, your life change, your ministry flourish - then seek God's face. When we rest in Him, He guides us. He provides. He strengthens. Your prayers begin to change and align with His will. You find yourself doing things that would have been out of character at one time.
The prayers of a righteous man availeth much when we allow ourselves to be aligned with the things of God. Just as God allowed Adam to name the animals because he was so in sync with God and God knew He would name them the same as He would; get in sync. Let your prayers come to pass because they are in line with God and not amiss. Be blessed.
