Our Division Hunger Project has been busy this Christmas Season. We presented a check for $2500 to The Southside Ministries Food Pantry and Brother Stuart Hensel secured 420 pounds of venison from Thurns Market for the pantry that was delivered by Division Chaplain Deacon Roger Minner. Several Brothers also packed 700 break food bags for Feed the Kids Columbus.

Statement from the Ancient Order of Hibernians on the Re-election of President Donald J. Trump

November 6, 2024

The Ancient Order of Hibernians (AOH) congratulates President Donald J. Trump on his second election as President of the United States.

This moment presents an opportunity to heal the divisions that have long challenged our nation, guided by our Order’s motto of “Friendship, Unity, and Christian Charity.” It is also an opportunity to strengthen the enduring bonds between the United States and Ireland—bonds rooted in shared values, history, and a deep commitment to peace and justice.

We hope this new term will make progress on issues vital to both the Irish-American community and our relationship with Ireland. For Irish Americans, establishing a fair and equitable immigration policy remains a priority, as does the continued celebration and preservation of Irish heritage here in America. As a Catholic organization, we stand for respect for all life, and we look forward to leadership that upholds this value.

Regarding Ireland, we urge renewed support for peace in Northern Ireland, especially through the timely appointment of a Northern Ireland Special Envoy and the repeal of Britain’s unjust Legacy Act. In recognition of 100 years of formal diplomatic ties between our nations, we also hope to see the prompt appointment of a U.S. Ambassador to Ireland to honor this historic milestone.

As with previous administrations, the AOH looks forward to working to advance these causes. We stand ready to support initiatives that honor our heritage and secure a future of shared purpose, unity, and respect for all.

Approximately 200 Claddagh rings were reclaimed from ground zero after 9/11. The Claddagh ring is an Irish symbol of friendship, loyalty and love.
Similar to the Claddagh ring, rescue and recovery workers at the World Trade Center site have embodied just that—comradery, love and dedication. Through recovery and then rebirth, the Irish-American presence at the WTC site has not faltered.
