Throwback Thursday! 702’s first album dropped 30 years ago TODAY.

This album is a NO-SKIP album, for me (Husband. DJ. Creative). This trio has been one of my favorite groups of all times. Their albums dropped during pivotal times in my life and I grew with them. All of their albums are albums I play on road trips and airplane rides.

Their music is fun, and has aged very well. So I had to represent for my girls and share some love to them.

My favorite song on this album (today) is “Finding My Way”. Have you heard this album?

R&B 101: How Can I Ease The Pain - Lisa Fischer

Columbus' Very Own let’s us know some facts about his favorite song and why you shouldn’t touch it for karaoke.

Lisa Fischer is a powerhouse vocalist whose voice has quietly shaped some of the most memorable moments in R&B, soul, and rock. She first gained major recognition singing background for artists such as Luther Vandross and later became a longtime touring vocalist for the Rolling Stones, delivering unforgettable live performances alongside Mick Jagger.

As a solo artist, Fischer won the 1992 Grammy Award for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance for her hit “How Can I Ease the Pain,” a song that showcased her extraordinary range, control, and emotional depth. Although she could have pursued conventional pop stardom, Fischer built a remarkable career as a vocalist’s vocalist. Respected by musicians for her ability to move effortlessly from a delicate whisper to a soaring, technically brilliant belt.

Her story was also prominently featured in the acclaimed documentary 20 Feet from Stardom, introducing a wider audience to the incredible voices behind some of music’s biggest stars.

Lawn chairs, blankets, personal fans, pillows, inflatables, and whatever else you need to be comfortable, respectfully, bring it. We are at the age where we want to have fun, comfortably and we have the space for you.

The Karaoke Party is an event that you can see a little bit of everybody in Columbus. One of the only places where you can be 23, 32 or 52 and not feel out of place. Which is perfect for this holiday weekend.

Plan to have one last fun weekend before you lock in with work, school or your body goals. We just want to see you have fun and sing.

Here’s what to expect:
Doors open at 8pm, people will already be lined up
Karaoke list opens at 830, people will be lined up
Food truck by Nana Pats Kitchen and IYKYK, everything is good from there.
Bars will be ran by BNIC Elevated Mobile Bar, you know that come with professionalism and fun.

We will have line dancing to start the night, DJs playing your favorite singalong R&B songs and the Vibe Setters making sure you feel the energy all night.

Weather will be great, and the weekend in Columbus is PACKED with events all over.

Throwback Thursday | The DJs

What makes us special is that none of us DJ like each other. We may like some of the same songs or genres but give us the same music and you will hear it 3 different ways.

We only compete with each other, to make each better. There’s no ego, we genuinely like each other, and we have been able to create something special.
