OMCA’s Housing Committee focuses on just that: housing. Members of the committee advocate for equitable housing throughout Howard County and have participated in Howard County initiatives such as the Housing Opportunities Master Plan & Task Force. The committee’s most recent work was to perform a SWOT analysis (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats) on Oakland Mills so they could identify areas for the committee to work on. Issues include housing density, poverty concentration, landlord-tenant relations (OMCA also has a tenant committee—more on that later!), townhouse HOA infrastructure support, aging in place, aging homes and utility infrastructure, and more. If you’d like to be part of the committee (or are just curious), attend the next meeting TOMORROW, September 2, at 7:00 p.m. at The Other Barn. Have questions? Contact Housing Committee Chair Bill McCormack (find his email on oaklandmills.org on the Board page).
