I double dog dare you to let go and let God! When you let go it’s like detangling a water-hose - what was once held up will flow with pressure behind it!!! Blessings everywhere!!! You’d be surprised what your anger is blocking for you and those assigned to you. Let it go and let God fix it.

What’s your record of restoration and reconciliation? We are taught in the Word that the person who has learned to show the way of reconciliation and restoration to God through Christ is wise. What’s your spiritual body count? How many people have been restored because of your testimony used as your confession to the power that Jesus saves? We confuse how many people we’ve invited to the church building or how many people we’ve bludgeoned with our misunderstanding of the Word with how many people have been positioned to be restored to the Body of Christ because of our ability to be a witness. We think it’s what we say. It’s not. It’s fully how we live and our self awareness, which should be a constant reminder to be merciful. Are we living a life of being a witness? I’m not a witness because of my goodness or good standing because truly without Him I would be drifting like a ship without a sail. I am a witness because of the depths of God’s grace toward me. He came for me when I didn’t deserve His pursuit. I can tell you how far God came for me and let you know that if He came to the depths of sin where I was sinking to get me He’s able to restore you. No matter what you’ve done. No matter the state you find yourself in. He is gracious and just. I didn’t deserve His grace and yet He sent grace after me. So because of God’s grace toward me my heart’s desire is to share my experience with anyone. It’s why I don’t look at what you’ve done or what you’re doing to determine if i should tell you about what I did or what i still do and yet God’s plan for me is reconciliation. I am compelled to be a witness of God’s grace because I am a sinner saved by God’s grace. I am not seeking to measure or recognize the sin in you. Not my job. Not my business. No. I acknowledge the faults in me and I want to show you how you were chosen before the foundation of the world even when you don’t feel like you were. You have purpose in the Kingdom of God even if you don’t believe you do.

God’s been chasing after you and perhaps you’ve not recognized His pursuit because you thought you were not worthy of Him pursuing you or you’ve done too much for too long and you need to clean yourself up and get right first. Sometimes we preoccupy ourselves with those thoughts that there’s something we can “do” to get saved when all the while it is God’s grace that continues to beckon for us. As a person who still sometimes thinks that way let me let you know that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us. Are you seeking direction? Jesus is the way. Message me for prayer. I’ll walk with you on our journey to be witnesses for God.

God wants to do a new thing in your life. Stop resisting. In Acts 9:5 God asks a guy named Saul why he insisted on “kicking against the pricks” which essentially means why are you resisting? Let’s be frank, Saul thought he was right. No, Saul knew he was right and he had the good well meaning church folk of that time on his side to prove he was right. He was armed with arrest warrants from those good well meaning politically driven church folks for the destruction of people who chose to believe “The Way.”

God blinded Saul during that encounter on his way to Damascus to transform him into Paul, someone who could “see” and “hear.” Up until that encounter Paul had been the product of committed study the the letter of the law and strict enforcement of it. He hadn’t been yet persuaded by the power of the blood of the Lamb. He hadn’t yet been constrained by the great gospel that Jesus saves.

I submit that too many are blinded by television, social media, 24 hour news feeds, and propaganda and that’s not the Word of God. As a result our ability to “see” God for who He is and to hear and obey His Word is distorted. It’s time for a life altering encounter with God. Stop resisting Him by taking in what society wants to feed you. Stop doing what you’ve always done because you’ve always done it that way. Examine your life against the only standard that matters…Jesus Christ. Don’t persecute Him; follow Him.

I tell people all the time, I haven’t watched the news voluntarily since 2020. As a matter of fact I remember the night when I chose to stop watching it. I was up all night unable to sleep soaking up news from a 24 hour station. My mind wanted to rest and my body was begging for sleep but I kept watching until I distinctly heard God say, “Turn off the television. Stop filling your mind with this. It is not of Me. Pray.” I turned off the television and began to cry out to God. As I cried out He gave me peace. Peace that made no since in that moment given the state of the world and our country. I prayed until I fell asleep. When I awoke the next day I was determined to empty my mind of politics, pundants, spin specialists, and bad, sad, depressing, distressing, distracting news. I am a witness that our minds become resistant to the Word as we lean into the news of the world. It’s not Godly. At first I couldn’t imagine how I could stay informed without watching the news? How could I not watch it. But over time I’ve learned that God replaced my need for the daily dose of biased garbage with a thirst for studying the Word. All the news I need is in the Word. I call it the GNN (God News Network). I stopped resisting God. It’s so hard to hear God with all of the noise going on in the world today.

Many years ago, a friend took me on a hike up a mountain. Once we got to a plateau he said, “ What do you hear?” I listened for a moment. I looked around at the most beautiful view I’d seen of a vast sea of God’s creation for miles and miles. I turned to him and answered with glee, “I hear nothing!” That moment helped me comprehend that we are inundated with continual noise that drowns out our ability to be at peace and to hear clearly from God in our hearts. As a result we resist God. We resist His will. We cannot see or hear His way clearly. There’s a mixed signal. We equate and relate the God who created everything with ourselves. We expect Him to fit compactly into our viewpoint and we diminish His greatness into our values. We reduce Him to a Sunday morning sound bite with which we can persecute Him and each other. All the while He is waiting for us to stop resisting Him. We insult the magnitude of God by compartmentalizing Him and tagging Him to what we earnestly believe is right and righteousness not seeing that our version of right is self centered, self willed, self driven, self taught, selfish, and excludes giving others the very grace and mercy we arrogantly expect from God each day. We don’t study to learn who He really is. Like Saul we’ve got folks warrants in hand and we’re on our way to serve up justice in the name of the lord-or in the name of the fake news that has lorded over us. For the few folks who choose to read this I implore you to embrace your transformative encounter with God. He’s doing a new thing in you. Separate your relationship with Him from worldly suggestion. Seeing Him means becoming blind to noisy distractions.

“As you are going through everyone is being tested, not just you.” Bishop Noel Jones.
Meaning, when our brother and sister (Mother, Father, Son, Daughter or Neighbor) we have a part of the test too. Will we actually go to God in prayer on their behalf or just say “I’m praying for you”? Will we speak to them with loving words that give life or will we unleash harsh harming words that damage their confidence? Will we walk with them as they go through? Will we be patient? Will we be kind? Will we comfort them? Will we pay a bill for them when they can’t? Will we continue calling, texting and bringing food when everyone else has stopped? Will we show up even when we have no words to say? Will we humble our frustrations, anger, judgement, and ego to help pick them up and build them up? Your test is also my test. Will I hug you in front of others and put on a show but ignore you otherwise? Our grade on the test is based upon the instructions Jesus left us in John 13:34-35

34 “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. 35 By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”

Love carries a lot of weight. Love covers a lot of mistakes. Love loves for others not for self boasting or aggrandizement. If you must tell someone about the “good” you think did and you never reveal the “bad” you actually did, you’re not passing the test. Love loves and moves on. It doesn’t wait for acknowledgement, reward or honor. No “thank you” is required.

Your test is my test. We are tested each day. And as Elder La Toya Stevens so eloquently told us this past Sunday, I may fail the assignment but God still makes a way for me to pass the test. I am determined to learn and grow so I can pass the test with you.
