This s**t is hard. But those little humans are learning so much about the unstoppable power of a determined woman. You are showing them what it means to value yourself but also nurture deeply and love unconditionally. They are learning that a woman’s worth isn’t confined to the home, it can be anywhere and anyway she wants it to.

In my head, this was going to be a heartfelt video of me sharing my mom’s story and all of hardship she overcame and the amazing things she’s accomplished. I had planed to record it with no interruptions (aka kids). But, I decided to hit record while I was designing today. The video was over 30 minutes long (mostly distractions), but the parts that stood out to me were the little interjections from that sweet voice. So, that’s what the video became. A love letter to my mom, our Gaga. The woman who makes our lives fun.

I love using large branches to create movement and a little drama. This privet is in full bloom everywhere you look. Is it invasive? Yes. Is it beautiful? Also, yes. Now the scent of honeysuckle vine is tugging at me to design with it. Stay tuned!

In order to be good at something, you’ve got to be bad at it for quite a while.

I’ve been intrigued by ikebana for quite a while and just recently decided to start learning more. More than just the popular “ikebana-style” pin frog arrangements that are so popular for weddings. Because the art goes much much deeper than that. And anything that is complex and requires lots of practice… count me in.

So, I’m challenging myself to weekly floral meditations. 30 minutes a week. A quiet, intentional pause to slow down and be bad at something.

When I say I go deep…I mean it. My goal is to improve every single day. If I’m honest, the easiest thing for me to focus on is the design process. Even though that’s only a small part of this business. Getting better at sales, marketing, bookkeeping, etc isn’t quite as appealing. BUT, I’m getting better at making time for those things as well. Tiny steps, every day towards building my floral empire.

So many gorgeous spring flowers, and not enough time to enjoy them all! To say we spoil our subscription clients would be an understatement.
