Your wedding venue sets the stage for your entire day, so how do you know what to prioritize? 🤍

Beyond simply loving how a space looks, here are a few things to keep in mind when touring venues:

✨ The flow of the day — Think about how guests will move from ceremony to cocktail hour to reception. A space that flows naturally can make the entire day feel effortless.

✨ What’s included — Tables, chairs, linens, bar service, setup, cleanup… knowing what’s included from the beginning can make planning (and budgeting!) so much easier.

✨ Your guest experience — Consider parking, location, accessibility, restrooms, and whether your guests will feel comfortable throughout the evening.

✨ Flexibility — Can you make the space feel like you? Look for a venue that gives you the freedom to bring your vision to life, whether that means a completely transformed space or keeping things simple.

✨ The people behind the venue — You’ll communicate with your venue team a lot throughout the planning process. Having a knowledgeable, responsive team you trust can make such a difference.

It’s been an incredible year of galas and fundraisers at The Atrium, and we love getting to host events that bring our community together! ✨

Taking a look back at last month’s The Missouri Symphony - MOSY 55th Anniversary Fundraising Gala — a beautiful evening celebrating 55 years of music, community, and impact.

Guests gathered for an evening of dinner, live music, and celebration, all while supporting the Missouri Symphony’s musicians, programs, and continued growth in our community.

From the beautiful details to a room full of people celebrating such an incredible organization and milestone, it was a night to remember.

Imagine your wedding day here. 🤍

The morning starts upstairs in our private bridal suite. Your favorite girls are with you, breakfast is spread out in the kitchen, mimosas are poured, music is playing, and everyone has plenty of room to get ready. Hair and makeup in the glam room, dresses hanging nearby, and those quiet little moments before the day officially begins.

Then it’s time for your first look. 🥹 Step outside for portraits around downtown Columbia, take photos throughout the venue, and soak in the fact that you’re about to marry your person.

Guests begin arriving, and soon it’s time.

You walk down the aisle.
You say “I do.” 💍
And just like that, you’re married.

While you sneak away for newlywed portraits, your guests head into cocktail hour for drinks, appetizers, and time to mingle.

Then it’s time for the reception.

Your grand entrance.
Your first dance.
Dinner with everyone you love.

Cocktail Hour Tips From a Venue 🥂

We’ve seen hundreds of cocktail hours held in our space over the years, and the most successful ones tend to have a few things in common. Here are some of our biggest tips when planning yours:

✨ Have drinks ready to go
When cocktail hour begins, everyone tends to head to the bar at once. Help ease that initial rush by having pre-poured w**e or b**r ready to be passed, or consider a batched signature cocktail that’s ready to pour. It’s an easy way to get drinks into your guests’ hands quickly and keep the bar line moving.

✨ Don’t skip the food
Passed appetizers, stationary displays, grazing tables — have it your way! No matter how you choose to serve it, having something for guests to snack on during cocktail hour is a must. You don’t want guests heading into your reception hungry and counting down the minutes until dinner.

✨ Add some entertainment
Give your guests something to enjoy while they mingle! Live music, a photo booth, an audio guest book or another interactive element can make cocktail hour feel like part of the celebration instead of simply the wait between ceremony and reception.

✨ Be intentional with the timing
There’s a reason it’s called cocktail hour! Around 60 minutes gives guests time to grab a drink, enjoy an appetizer and mingle while you finish up photos. If you know you’ll need a little longer, plan accordingly with enough food, drinks and entertainment to keep your guests enjoying themselves.

Cocktail hour is only one piece of your wedding day, but a little extra planning here can make a big difference in your guests’ experience. 🤍

A night to remember at The Atrium! ✨

We had the privilege of hosting the inaugural Kids at Heart Benefit for MU Health Care Children’s Hospital. Between the incredible turnout, live auction, and generosity throughout the room, the evening raised more than $500,000 to support pediatric research and care!

We’re so grateful our venue could be part of such a special night. ♥️

Back in May, our in-house planner, Mercedez, coordinated this beautiful styled shoot featuring gorgeous rentals from Toast & Mingle alongside an incredible team of local vendors. 🖤

One of our favorite parts of styled shoots is seeing so many talented creatives come together to create something truly special. From the florals and hair & makeup to the jewelry, stationery, rentals, and so much more, every detail was thoughtfully curated, and every vendor played an important role in making this vision a reality.
