If you've stopped by the grille over the past year, chances are you've been greeted by Sonny's friendly smile and strong work ethic. From Fayetteville, Tennessee, Sonny joined the Pillow Springs team a little over a year ago through a church program connected with Maury Hills Church. One thing you'll quickly notice about Sonny is his dedication.

When asked about a memorable day at work, he shared the story of having a painful tooth pulled during the middle of a busy lunch shift. Despite being told to take it easy, Sonny came straight back to the grille because he knew the team needed an extra hand. "I said, 'No, I've got to help out.' It was busy, and I wanted to be there." That story says everything you need to know about Sonny. Whether it's a packed lunch rush or an everyday shift, he's always ready to jump in and help wherever he's needed. We're grateful to have Sonny as part of the Pillow Springs family. Be sure to say hello the next time you see him in the grille!

Each week, we'll be featuring a member or employee to help everyone get to know the people who make Pillow Springs such a special place!

This week we're featuring member Stephen Fields, who joined Pillow Springs with his son, Alexander, in January 2025. Originally from Jasper, Alabama (War Eagle!), Stephen spent 20 years in California working for Verizon before moving his family to Columbia in 2015 to be closer to relatives and raise his two sons, Spencer and Alexander. Stephen's connection to Pillow Springs goes back to when the course was still Stoneybrook. He spent countless hours practicing, playing, and coaching the Columbia Academy golf team, making the course a special place long before becoming a member. He's enjoyed watching the Bakers and the entire Pillow Springs team transform the course into a premier golf destination for the community. When asked about his favorite hole, Stephen didn't hesitate to choose No. 8. He loves the variety of tee shot options, the demanding approach shot, and the challenging yet fair green that rewards a well-executed birdie opportunity. His most memorable moment at Pillow Springs wasn't one of his own shots. It was watching his youngest son, Alexander, hole out from the fairway for an eagle on the 16th hole. While Stephen's personal low round is an impressive 68, that family memory tops the list. Away from Pillow Springs, Stephen's favorite golf experience was playing the legendary Olympic Club in San Francisco, a round he'll never forget.
