Picnic Basket Catering Collective Acquires The Sugarplum Cake Shoppe...
Beloved Colorado Springs bakery will retain its name and continue serving customers as the newest brand within the locally owned catering collective.
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Picnic Basket Catering Collective today announced that it has acquired the business assets of The Sugarplum Cake Shoppe, a locally owned bakery known for custom cakes, cupcakes and desserts. Sugarplum will continue as a distinct brand within Picnic Basket Catering Collective.
The acquisition brings together two Colorado Springs companies with a shared commitment to creativity, quality, relationships and meaningful celebrations. It also expands Picnic Basket Catering Collective’s in-house baking, pastry and custom-cake capabilities for weddings, corporate events, community gatherings and personal milestones.
Sugarplum founder Amanda Adams, who opened the bakery in 2010, will join Picnic Basket Catering Collective and remain actively involved in Sugarplum’s work. Her continued leadership and expertise will help preserve the recipes, artistry, personal service and customer relationships that have defined the bakery.

For Sugarplum customers, the transition is designed to be seamless. All confirmed orders and commitments will be honored, and customers do not need to take any action. Sugarplum will continue operating from its current location at 412 S. 8th Street during the transition, and customers may continue using the bakery’s existing phone number, website and communication channels.

Under the new structure, Sugarplum will become the dedicated cake, baking and dessert brand within Picnic Basket Catering Collective. In addition to continuing to serve Sugarplum’s custom and customers, the bakery will strengthen dessert offerings across Picnic Basket Catering, Buffalo Gals Grilling + Catering and Cravings 5-Star Catering.
The businesses will integrate their systems and operations thoughtfully over time. The immediate priority is continuity: protecting quality, supporting employees, communicating clearly and ensuring that every existing order is completed with the care customers expect.
The transaction closed on August 10, 2026. Financial terms were not disclosed.
