B-Side Collective began in 2016 as a response to the current music scene at Colorado College and Colorado Springs as a whole. Recognizing the many ways in which the music scene could be limiting and the ways in which privilege can dominat

e a musical space, this group formed to offer an inclusive community for females, gender non-conforming, and queer/lgbtqia+ students. Why the name? On EPs, there are usually two sides, the A-side and the B-side. Generally artists would put what they thought were their hits on the "a-side" and use the flip side to put their other songs. However, often times the b-side also had hits and many believed it was more genuine than the other songs. In many ways this relates to many of the underrepresented artists on the Colorado College who voices are often overshadowed and unheard.
