Firefighter Trainings at La Foret

Black Forest Fire Rescue held a chainsaw certification training for volunteer wildland firefighters here at La Foret. We are so thrilled that we got to offer our property as a space for fire mitigation training and education for our community.

We are deeply committed to caring for our neighbors, and we are so excited that this partnership allows us to care for our whole community and support these volunteers who are willing to run into danger.

Volunteer wildland firefighters from several counties spent the weekend learning crucial chainsaw skills in Colorado Springs.

Yesterday, they poured the concrete for our new pool walls. The concrete will need to set for a while, but we’re getting closer to having our renovated pool!

It's National Creativity Day! We want to highlight our Bemis Imagination Camp as an opportunity for elementary-aged kids to explore their creativity, build community, and play with their imaginations right here in the Black Forest.

The Bemis Imagination Camp will be in session from 9 AM to 3 PM, Monday through Friday during these weeks:
1️⃣ WEEK ONE: June 22-26
2️⃣ WEEK TWO: July 6-10
3️⃣ WEEK THREE: July 13-17
4️⃣ WEEK FOUR: July 20-24
5️⃣ WEEK FIVE: July 27-31

Staff spotlight! Say hi to Olivia, our Executive Director!

Olivia brings a unique blend of leadership experience to La Foret Conference and Retreat Center, having spent nearly 5 years in the camp industry and drawing on diverse backgrounds in aerospace project and program management, college campus ministry, and associate ministry. This varied career path has equipped her with both operational expertise and a pastoral heart, essential for leading La Foret's mission.

Olivia leads with a philosophy rooted in abundance and possibility. She believes that when staff are provided with clear expectations, adequate resources, and compelling vision, they naturally create exceptional experiences for guests. This approach emphasizes organizational efficiency without sacrificing the joy that makes La Foret special. Olivia brings a naturally curious mind to the work, asking questions that unlock potential and create pathways for growth throughout the organization.

Outside of work, Olivia embraces the Colorado lifestyle through skiing, snowshoeing, and hiking. She loves living in Colorado with her Partner and 8 animals.
