🌽🥚 We’re getting close…
The new Stickley Family Farms self-serve Egg & Produce Stand is finally starting to come together here in Colon, Michigan!

What started as a beat-up old 1950s truck bed trailer has slowly turned into one of our favorite projects we’ve ever built at the farm. It’s rustic. It’s handmade. It’s definitely not perfect… and honestly, that’s exactly why we love it.

Starting soon, this stand will feature: 🥚 Fresh eggs from our flock 🌽 Seasonal produce 🌻 Flowers & farm goods 🪵 Handmade wooden items crafted right here on the farm from trees we’ve cut and milled ourselves using our on-site sawmill 🐦 Bird feeders, rustic décor, trivets, and more...

We’re also setting it up for self-service card payments so people can stop by conveniently throughout the week.

This is just the beginning. Over time we want this little stand to become one more fun and unique thing people remember about visiting Stickley Family Farms.
So now we want YOUR input:
👇 What would YOU like to see us sell here?
Fresh baked goods? Local honey? Pumpkins in the fall? Fresh sweet corn? Rustic handmade gifts? Farmhouse décor?

🚨 We may have made a questionable purchase decision… 👽

After spotting this absolutely bizarre UFO / flying saucer creation for sale, we somehow ended up hauling it 55 miles back to Stickley Family Farms for BoneTown. 😅

What started as “that thing is hilarious” quickly turned into:
“Wait… are we actually doing this?”

The funniest part?
People were slowing down, pulling over, pointing, laughing, and taking photos the entire drive home.

We’re still not entirely sure what this thing is going to become yet…

…but something VERY strange may be landing at the farm this fall. 👀

This honestly made our day a little bit.
Someone in a Michigan travel/day trip group was searching Google for a rideable miniature train experience in Michigan and shared a screenshot of the AI search results…

…and there was Stickley Family Farms.

Not Disney. Not some giant amusement park. Little old us here in Colon, Michigan. 🚂

That means a lot because the Mini Michigan Central Railroad has truly been a labor of love. We’ve spent years slowly restoring, improving, building, collecting, and trying to preserve a little piece of the classic Americana magic that so many of us grew up with. We're just a short drive from Kalamazoo, Battle Creek, Coldwater, and Northern Indiana. And we're the perfect family friendly weekend to-do!

Old roadside attractions. County fairs. Miniature railroads. Family memories. Simple fun.

The really exciting part is that people outside our immediate area are beginning to discover it organically.

And honestly?

We’re just getting started.

A huge thank you to everyone who has supported Stickley Family Farms over the years by sharing posts, bringing your families out, telling friends about us, and believing in our weird little dreams. It matters more than you know.

🚨 SOMETHING STRANGE MAY BE COMING TO STICKLEY FAMILY FARMS… 👀

Over the past few weeks, there have been… reports.

Strange lights over the fields.
Odd sounds late at night.
And now this.

We honestly aren’t sure what to make of it yet.

All we know is that BoneTown may be getting a VERY unusual new resident this fall. ☠️👽

More details soon.

(Authorities have advised us not to ask too many questions.)

The vintage farm stand project at Stickley Family Farms officially survived the roof installation. 😅🌽

And honestly… putting a metal roof on a 70+ year old truck bed trailer that wasn’t exactly square, level, straight, or cooperative turned into WAY more of a project than we expected.

There were definitely moments where we questioned our sanity while wrestling giant metal panels around in the evening wind. 😂

But little by little, it started coming together.

What we love most about projects like this is that they don’t come out factory perfect. Every crooked board, odd angle, scratch, and challenge becomes part of the personality and story.

This old 1950s pickup bed trailer is slowly transforming into a vintage-style roadside farm stand right here at Stickley Family Farms in Colon, Michigan.

Once finished, it’ll feature:
🥚 fresh eggs from our chickens
🌽 seasonal produce
🎃 pumpkins and fall decorations
🌻 flowers and mums
💡 warm lights at night
👨‍🌾 and hopefully a place where families can slow down, take photos, shop local, and make memories together

We’re trying to create the kind of place people WANT to visit on a beautiful fall afternoon.

Whether you’re coming from Colon, Sturgis, Three Rivers, Coldwater, Battle Creek, Kalamazoo, or anywhere else in Southwest Michigan, we’ve got some really exciting things coming to the farm this season.

Not just for fall festival fun and the haunted house…
…but also for fresh local food, relaxing farm atmosphere, and those old-fashioned moments that seem harder and harder to find anymore.

It’s been a LOT of work already, but seeing the roof finally go on tonight made it all worth it.

Can’t wait to continue bringing this old piece of history back to life.

Did you know you can actually stay overnight at Stickley Family Farms?

That’s right. We’re not just a place to visit for an hour and head home. We have a few simple farm stay options right here in Colon, Michigan, including a rustic tent site, a romantic wooded campsite with power and lights, and an RV spot with electric and water.

It’s not a big commercial campground. It’s a small family farm with a little country charm, a quiet place to sit by the fire, and room to breathe.

You can come out for a peaceful night under the stars, use the farm as a little basecamp while visiting Colon, Sturgis, Coldwater, Three Rivers, or Shipshewana, or make a full weekend out of your trip during our summer and fall seasons.

And as the farm keeps growing, there’s more to enjoy while you’re here. Family-friendly farm activities, seasonal events, our miniature railroad, fall fun, and of course the Tunnel of Terror haunted attraction during spooky season.

Some people come for the corn maze.
Some come for the haunted house.
Some come for the train.
And some just want a quiet night by the fire.

Now you can do all of that and stay right here on the farm.

If you’ve been looking for a unique place to camp near Colon, Michigan, come stay overnight at Stickley Family Farms.

Booking is available through Hipcamp. Link in comments.

A little more progress tonight on the vintage farm stand project out at Stickley Family Farms. 🌽

What started as an old rusty 1950s pickup bed trailer is slowly turning into a handmade roadside-style farm stand right here on the farm in Colon, Michigan.

The roof framing is now up, and honestly… it’s starting to finally look like the vision we had in our heads.

The plan is to create a warm old-fashioned farm market feel with:
🎃 pumpkins
🥚 fresh eggs from our chickens
🌽 seasonal produce
🍁 fall decorations
💡 cozy lights at night
👨‍🌾 and a place families can stop, relax, take photos, and make memories

We still have a long way to go, but we love bringing old things back to life instead of letting them disappear.

This fall is going to have some really special new additions at the farm, and we’re excited to share the process as we build them.

What should we add to the stand when it’s finished? 👇

Something special is taking shape out at Stickley Family Farms. 🌽🎃

We picked up an old 1950s pickup bed trailer and decided to turn it into a vintage-style roadside farm stand. What started as a rusty old trailer is slowly becoming one of our favorite projects we’ve ever built.

The goal is simple:
Bring back that old-fashioned roadside farm market feeling people remember from years ago.

Fresh produce.
Fresh eggs from our chickens.
Pumpkins.
Mums.
Fall decorations.
Warm lights.
Country nights.
And a place families actually WANT to stop, take photos, and make memories.

The first image is our concept rendering of what we hope it becomes.

The second photo is the real progress as we build it ourselves right here at the farm.

Still lots to do, but we’re excited to share the journey with everybody. We’ll keep posting updates as it comes together. 👨‍🌾

If you love:
