The vintage farm stand project at Stickley Family Farms officially survived the roof installation. 😅🌽
And honestly… putting a metal roof on a 70+ year old truck bed trailer that wasn’t exactly square, level, straight, or cooperative turned into WAY more of a project than we expected.
There were definitely moments where we questioned our sanity while wrestling giant metal panels around in the evening wind. 😂
But little by little, it started coming together.
What we love most about projects like this is that they don’t come out factory perfect. Every crooked board, odd angle, scratch, and challenge becomes part of the personality and story.
This old 1950s pickup bed trailer is slowly transforming into a vintage-style roadside farm stand right here at Stickley Family Farms in Colon, Michigan.
Once finished, it’ll feature:
🥚 fresh eggs from our chickens
🌽 seasonal produce
🎃 pumpkins and fall decorations
🌻 flowers and mums
💡 warm lights at night
👨🌾 and hopefully a place where families can slow down, take photos, shop local, and make memories together
We’re trying to create the kind of place people WANT to visit on a beautiful fall afternoon.
Whether you’re coming from Colon, Sturgis, Three Rivers, Coldwater, Battle Creek, Kalamazoo, or anywhere else in Southwest Michigan, we’ve got some really exciting things coming to the farm this season.
Not just for fall festival fun and the haunted house…
…but also for fresh local food, relaxing farm atmosphere, and those old-fashioned moments that seem harder and harder to find anymore.
It’s been a LOT of work already, but seeing the roof finally go on tonight made it all worth it.
Can’t wait to continue bringing this old piece of history back to life.
