❄️ Good Day Everyone! 😃 Arctic Blast Alert ❄️
Please make sure you and your family are prepared for the upcoming weekend weather. Ice and snow are expected to begin Friday night / early Saturday morning through Monday, and the ice may not melt until Wednesday.
⚠️ Power outages are possible, and temperatures will stay in the 20s and below.
Here are a few important tips to stay safe and ready:
• Charge all phones, tablets, and electronics
• Have flashlights and extra batteries ready
• Prepare portable chargers and backup power
• Stock up on food and bottled water
• Fill your bathtubs with water in case pipes freeze — this allows you to flush toilets if water service is disrupted
• Have portable heaters and warm blankets available
• Salt your driveway and walkways
• Cover cars parked outside the garage
• Limit travel and stay indoors when possible
🔥 Heating & Generator Safety (Very Important):
• If using a generator, place it outside only, with the exhaust facing away from your home. Never run a gas generator indoors or in a garage — carbon monoxide is deadly.
• If using portable propane heaters, make sure they are indoor-rated and carbon monoxide safe. (Mr. Buddy heaters are an example.) Otherwise, use indoor-rated kerosene heaters only.
• If using electric space heaters, make sure nothing else is plugged into the same circuit. Most homes have 15-amp circuits, and a 1500-watt heater alone maxes out what the circuit can safely handle.
We are also making sure our elderly & disabled family members as well as neighbors are prepared, and we encourage everyone to check on those who may need extra help.
🙏 Please share this so others can prepare too.
Stay safe, stay warm, and be prepared! ❄️💙
