Turkey meatballs to the left of me (for Lily) Turkey meatballs to the right of me( basil cranberry for mom ) and here I am stuck going to work! But not really ;-) I love my job and will enjoy a day off tomorrow instead. Hope everyone will have happy cooking and people you love around you for dinner. The one thing I miss from home almost as much as my family is Swedish pic n mix candy. Nothing beats getting to pick a few of each of your favorites. As much as I’m grateful for every friend and family member bringing me pounds of the stuff. On my short visit to Sweden I had an almost non existent sweet tooth so I didn’t eat any and I brought the tiniest bag home. Of course I severely regretted that decision when I got home… but lucky me! Not just one but two Swedish candy stores have opened in south Florida in the span of a few weeks. So on my way home from Lily’s vet in Miami I stopped at Go Yummy in Boca and picked to my hearts content. And bought favorites for a few friends too. Sharing is caring after all! The store is run by people as sweet as the treats they sell! Highly recommend paying them a visit! Largest Swedish candy store in the USA! Goyummyusa.com

Finally feels like fall in Florida! (Well in the mornings anyway) So inspired by the change of season I made an Elk and mushroom stir fry with zucchini and sweet potatoes. Easy Sunday food prep that I’ll enjoy this week and probably will replicate for lunch for the boss. Quick, tasty and clean eats made simple with meats. (That sounds like a slogan from a commercial from the 60ies lol)

There she goes again my little mama. On a new adventure. Multiple planes and over the Atlantic Ocean. I’m not going to mention her age but we should all be so lucky to be half as brave (and young looking) as her when we reach it! It’s a bit weird to wave her off and go back in to her apartment! When flying thru Riga, Latvia do as the Rigans do and drink Black Balsam and tonic. A traditional Latvian herbal liquor. Supposedly good for digestion :-) Google describes it as s a combination of birch, lime, ginger, cocoa, liquorice baking spices and berries. I think I might have an unopened bottle at home from my trip to Riga with mom many years ago.

Leaving her is never going to be easy. But Iv got the best help a girl could ask for! A dog walker who literally was heaven sent and took such care of her last time so I don’t really have anything to worry about. And a bestie who is coming to stay at my place despite she just broker her toe and probably can’t walk. But despite all that I’m going to really miss her. She really stepped up the puppy love when Emma passed. My very very good girl. We went to see the sunrise this morning. Something she really loves.

Packing a snack is the new black! ;-) Bringing a healthy option to stay on track is definitely in style. I’m one month in on making protein a priority and watching the type of carbs I’m eating. Coupled with exercise and 16-18 hour fasting I feel great. Carrying ziplock Bags of chicken breast is second nature now lol so felt completely normal to roast some veg and leftover chicken sausage to bring on the plane with me. Also have some bone broth powder, a bag of chicken and an avocado. I’ll be enjoying all the treats and lots of wine with my bestie but I’m offsetting it by already scheduled walks. So no crappy airplane lasagna for me :-)
