Thank you, to my daughter Samantha Marie for this beautiful tribute and pictures of our sweet girl, Misty!
Long and very sad post warning. ⚠️
It is with great sadness and extremely heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our sweet, beloved Misty. 💔
Misty was a BLM branded mustang abandoned and left with us nearly 8 years ago by her previous owners. Typically we would have tried to rehab and rehome her, but she stole all of our hearts and became a permanent addition to our little barn family.
Throughout the years Misty has been used in our non-riding programs like summer camps, winter camps, and pony pal. She enjoyed her time participating in those programs, but preferred to stay with her bestest friend Jewel, all day long. Jewel was another owner surrender situation that we managed to find the perfect little girl for, and were so happy they decided to continue boarding Jewel with us so her and Misty could remain together.
Over the years Misty and Jewel have become inseparable. Misty would always watch over Jewel, protect her, call out to her when she was being ridden, sleep next to her, and would even watch her through her stall the entire day, until being turned out together in the evenings. Their love was something we could have all learned from… absolutely unconditional. ♥️
Sadly Misty was diagnosed with a very aggressive form of cancer months ago, and was fighting it everyday since. She had a hard time keeping weight and had little interest in eating no matter what we tried to feed her. She never gave up though, and made it clear that she wasn’t ready to stop fighting for her life.
We noticed a change in Misty at the beginning of the year though, and her cancer begin to show externally… which is when we really knew her end was nearing. Throughout the month we have showered Misty with extra love, treats, and as much time with Jewel as possible. She was also monitored throughout it all by the best vet we could ever ask for, Central Florida Large Animal Veterinary Services. Dr. Walter went above and beyond to keep Misty comfortable and to let us know when it was really her time.
Misty was laid to rest on Tuesday morning @9:30 am, surrounded by love, comfort, and the reassurance of being reunited with her BLM herd in heaven, that she was taken from all those years ago. Misty was estimated to be over 35 years old… we can only hope that in those 35 years she lived her life the way she deserved to. We certainly made it a point to always love her and never give up on her when she joined our family, which we did until her very last moments. ♥️😓
We would like to thank you all for your support and understanding throughout Misty’s journey. She will always be with us, and we are certain she’s still watching over Jewel. Jewel is having a very hard time with the loss of her best friend, so we ask for positive vibes and prayers for Jewel and her family as well. 🙏🏽
Here are some pictures we took of Misty the night before crossing over the rainbow bridge. Please enjoy these precious pictures, and remember… it’s okay to cry. We all are… we all loved her.
Rest easy, sweetest girl. 🌈♥️🐴
