Today's the big day! Our give-away winner is announced! ✨🌟

I want to first say thank you to everyone who took time to nominate others - it was really a sweet and thoughtful collection of people in our community, and I hope you'll consider nominating again in September. ❀️

I put all the nominees in the wheel and gave it a spin this morning and our winner of the bouquet πŸ’ is Renee Craige!! Please look for a message from me in your FB DM so we can arrange to meet soon!

Below is what Tiffany Brown Loiko had to say about Renee and why she nominated her πŸ’•πŸ₯Ή.

"Renee is not only one of the kindest, sweetest & gentle person I’ve ever met, she’s also the best doggie aunt!!! Renee always puts others first and goes out of her way to help anyone she can. Renee always has a smile & warm embrace! Renee is what we need more of in not only our county, but our world!!! πŸ’œπŸ’«"

Thank you all again for participating and showing why our little community is so great! 🫢

A little 'get to know a local flower farmer wannabee 🐝' moment today.

This year we grew over 200 different varieties of dahlias. It's our second year growing dahlias and third year growing cutflowers in general. The goal was twofold: figure out which ones we really love, to then expand their space in the field; and pick the best and strongest genetics for our own dahlia breeding goals (more on that in a different post one day).

It's sounds and looks like madness but there's a method to it. πŸ‘©β€πŸ”¬

All of that to say, we've definitely found our first dahlia that is going to have a permanent spot in the field and gain extra spots next year. The beautiful, glowy, waterlily type that is Sandia Bliss. She's 100% that girl and she knows it. I do a double take every time I walk past her and she's not even in her prime yet. πŸ’–πŸ”₯

What do you guys think? Isn't she lovely?

Come by the Library and vote for your favorite stem and arrangement!

The dahlias are taking off finally and it means I get to play with more arrangements. πŸ˜πŸ’

Our second dahlia to bloom this season was Black Narcissus. The dark and broody dahlias seem to have a head start this year. She adds the spice with her semi-cactus form. πŸ”₯πŸ‘Œ

This is her second year in the field. She was just as stunning last year.

Beautiful long stems, vigorous healthy plant of 3-5 ft height. We love her. πŸ’‹

Hi everyone! 🌻

I have an abundance of flowers here at Little Redd Flower Field, and while I establish my little flower field, I want to grow more than just flowers - I want to grow kindness.

I’m going to start a growing season give-away to connect with my local community. If this goes smoothly for August, we’ll do it again in September, and until first frost!

Here’s how it’ll work:

We’ll choose one Haywood County resident to receive a beautiful bouquet of locally grown flowers.

You can nominate anyone but yourself. This is about growing kindness. You can pick a family member, a friend, a coworker, a local business owner/service provider, your choice as long as they reside in Haywood County. Pick someone whose day you want to brighten.

Since we also want to grow our local roots, your nomination counts if you complete these steps:

🌱 Follow us here on FB
🌼 Like and share this post
🌸 Drop/tag your nomination in the comments. Tell us why you picked them if you want!

Nominations will close on Aug. 20th. I’ll randomly pick the winner on Aug. 24th and reach out to you to coordinate delivery to your nominee (Haywood County only) before end of month.

You can only nominate one person, but a single person can be nominated by multiple people. You are not nominating yourself.

Looking forward to seeing the kindness that grows from this community. πŸ’β€οΈ
