The process of matching these bricks was challenging due to their unique hue. We searched across central Illinois with no luck, because of their discrepancy in the clay color. After conducting research, we found that the railroad from St. Louis constructed tracks through Clinton in 1854. Thereafter, taking truckloads of pallets of bricks in that city enabled us to move forward.
As of today, we remain incomplete on the second story of the north side and approximately a quarter of the west side. Finding bricks of excellent quality with the same hue is challenging to say the least.
