Welcoming PBJ or Paintings by Jackie!

Jackie is an acrylic freelance painter, who has painted murals throughout Cleveland for the past 30 years. Jackie has paintings for sale in her sale in her new studio located on the third floor, but also takes commission as well.

“Hello, my name is Jackie Wagner!
During the pandemic, I was introduced to an online artist from Chattanooga, TN, named Ali Kay. I have painted under her direction for 5 years and became a moderator for her Fresh Paint Community. I fell in love with her Contemporary Impressionist style of art using liquid acrylics, which involves a four layered process of painting using only 9 colors to create your palette and no black paint!

I’m very happy to be at 78th Street Studios surrounded by talented and inspirational artists!”

New Heights, a group exhibition celebrating mid-careeer black artists, opens this Juneteenth.

Derek Hess Gallery (DHG) presents the inaugural exhibition in a series that
provides a platform for early and mid-career artists of exceptional talent. The first
installment, New Heights, celebrates four Black creatives with ties to Cleveland. Curated by
Megan Alves and featuring Davon Brantley, Stina Aleah, Amani Williams, and Nate Austin, the spotlight exhibition will include at least one new work by each artist, with several presenting entirely new collections.

Though each artist’s creative practice is unique, they use the human figure to explore
inner emotional worlds, the intersection of personal histories and collective memory, and
the tension between marginalized bodies and the cultural landscapes they inhabit.

New Heights opens with a reception on Juneteenth (Friday, June 19) from
5:00 - 9:00 P.M. during 78th Street Studio’s June Third Friday art walk. To see the work after the opening reception, please contact Gallery Manager Marty Geramita ([email protected]).

Get to know the menu!

We will have 3 food trucks for the 78th Street Studios 25th Anniversary Party. First up we have

Island City, serves Puerto Rican food with a mix of authentic traditional recipes and few licks of improvisation. 

The food truck was started by owner Anthony Fuentes.

“I would put my mother’s pork shoulder roast up against anybody else’s Puerto Rican mother, or grandmothers cooking, with unshakable confidence.” - Anthony Fuentes

Anthony’s hope is to elevate Puerto Rican cuisine to the level of mainstream popularity that it deserves, when you do it with love.  You can try the pork on exquisite sandwiches, fresh fried empanadas, wraps, rice bowls, salad bowls, or directly on the fried plantains for a Loaded Tostones.
