The first Dyer Vinton book swap was SO much fun! It was exciting to see the different types of books brought in, and how fellow book lovers left with "new-to-them" books :)

Our biggest question we received: "Will you do this again?" ... the answer is ABSOLUTELY! We are wanting to make this a regular event, and we are already thinking of potential dates for the fall.

We'd love any and all input on preferred September/October Saturdays!

A MASSIVE shout-out to Roadside Stand Coffee and Eden Rothlisberger for your delicious treats and plants. We would LOVE to have you both back as well!

As I made the trip to Clermont this morning, I was making a mental to do list. Something I've done literally a thousand times since purchasing the church building. I paused when I saw the sun peeking over the hills. The list disappeared and turned to thoughts of the experiences this past 21 months have brought. The couples who have said "I do", the mommas preparing to welcome little ones, retirees celebrating the end of an era, graduates looking back at their school years and anticipating the future. I thought about the events the community has welcomed- 2 flower bars, new moon yoga, a cowgirl disco, faith and four letter words, a styled wedding, witches night out, a sound bath, candle making, a market for moms. And today we prepare for a book swap.

As I pulled into the sleepy town, I felt such gratitude for the renters, vendors, participants and community that have brought this all to life. And so much love for my friends and family who have supported me. This is exactly what I hoped for when we purchased this little venue🤍

So, if you're in The Brick City this morning camping, shopping at Alesha's Salon & Butik, checking out the flea market or traveling through, stop at the Roadside Stand Coffee trailer, bring your coffee inside and say hello! You don't have to be a bookworm to stop in 🤗 We are looking forward to another great day!

We're looking forward to a fun, relaxed morning of books, coffee, and community THIS Saturday, June 20!

Location: THE DYER VINTON - 610 Mill St, Clermont IA
Start Time: 9:30 AM for check-in / 10:00 AM for the exchange

9:30 AM - Doors Open
Bring your books to check-in, receive your tickets, grab a coffee and a snack, and browse the tables while we finish sorting books by genre. No more than 10 books please! We will also have sticky notes for you to tag your books if you want them back at the end of the swap if they were not selected.

10:00 AM - Book Swap Begins
Use your tickets to select new-to-you books! They will be arranged by genre for easy browsing.

Throughout the Morning
Add your favorite reads to our Community Recommendation Board, chat with fellow book lovers, and discover something new.

10:30 AM - Book Check-In Closes
Please arrive by 10:30 if you'd like to exchange books.

11:15 AM - Free Browsing Opens
Any books remaining on the tables will be available for everyone to browse and take home, no tickets required.

11:30 AM - Wrap-Up
We'll finish up the event and sort any remaining books for return or donation.

A few reminders:
• Bring clean, gently used books that are relatively free from marks or tears.
• Please limit book donations to 10 books per person.
• Kids are welcome! Kids can pick out one free book, no ticket required.
• Popular genres: romance, thriller, mystery, fantasy/romantasy, general fiction, self-help
• The Suite will be open to take your coffees and treats into, and have a Silent Book Club to start your new books

A frequently asked question: "Can I come if I don't have books?" We will start our event with those who exchange books, but you're welcome to join us to browse what is remaining at 11:15. Please note: selection may be minimal at that time, so the only way to ensure some books is to bring some and exchange!

As you may know, my 'real job' is a Hospice Social Worker at Winn Med. It is truly an honor to be part of such a wonderful program.

🚗🏍 Join us for the 2026 WinnMed Hospice Memorial Ride! 🏍🚗

Mark your calendar for Sunday, June 14 and enjoy a meaningful day supporting WinnMed Hospice.

Start the morning with a free-will donation breakfast from 9–11 a.m. in the WinnMed Cafeteria (parking available in Lot F). Everyone is welcome, whether you're riding or just stopping by for breakfast. Then hit the road for the poker run, open to all vehicles.

Sign-in: 9–10:30 a.m. at WinnMed in Decorah (Lot F)
Departure: 11 a.m.
Entry fee: $20 per vehicle

The scenic ride through Northeast Iowa wraps up around 4:30 p.m. at PIVO Brewery in Calmar, with a silent auction, door prizes, and refreshments. This year’s proceeds will help update the WinnMed Hospice patient room, supporting comfort and compassionate care for patients and families.
