This nice weather is begging for a new book! If you are looking for something to read on a picnic blanket at the park, flip through at a coffee shop (Euphoria, anyone?), or put in the pool bag for summer, The Dyer Vinton is thinking of putting together a fun and free book swap and wanted to get a feel for what everyone would enjoy.

Bring some books you’re ready to pass along, and leave with something new-to-you as a way for our local book community to get together and share the love of books. We are excited to gauge interest and make this happen!

At The Dyer Vinton we believe in sustainability, appreciate the stories behind items of past eras and love hunting treasures!

So, we have a very special event coming up to celebrate old stuff!

MOM MARKET👜

We have been busy thrifting, sorting through gently used treasures, and creating themed gift baskets. We have thoughtfully curated a shopping experience where kids are invited to come choose gifts that we know Moms will love!

All items are $15 or less and priced in $5 increments for ease. We ask that children under 5 be accompanied by an adult or responsible older child. 5 and above are welcome to shop alone while an adult hangs out in our suite.

A year ago this month, we hosted our very first event at The Dyer Vinton, so thought I'm due to introduce myself...

I'm Melissa Whelan. My husband, Brad and I purchased the church in October 2024. During the months between purchase and a year ago, we set forward to lovingly restore the 1867 building.

In addition to managing daily operations of the venue, I am a hospice social worker at Winneshiek Medical Center and own and operate PBM Creative, a photography business. I am a mother to 2 adults (who you will see around The Dyer Vinton, helping ol mom out) and mimi to 2 fabulous little ones who love to have dance parties here, at "papa's church". My goal is to provide a beautiful space for you to celebrate all of life's special moments.

Meet our New Moon Healing Gong & Sound Bath Facilitator✨

Laura Gentry is the pastor of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Lansing and a spiritual counselor for WinnMed Hospice. She is also known as 'Laughing Laura', a Master Teacher of Laughter Yoga and wellness educator who has led programs around the world. Laura offers sound healing as a spiritually inclusive practice, creating healing spaces for rest, reflection, and renewal that are supportive for all.

This evening will be a deeply relaxing, immersive sound experience using:
gongs
antique singing bowls
handpan
and a crystal pyramid for sound and vibrational healing
The experience will be centered around:
deep rest and nervous system reset
quiet reflection and intention-setting
letting go of what no longer serves you
embodied listening and stillness

Today is a day to honor supportive and empowering relationships among women

Through this whole process, Morgan at The Wedding Nest was our biggest cheerleader, our hype girl, the one who had my back, the one who showed up out of nowhere and handled things we didn't even know needed handling. Not only are these attributes in our galentines, they are exactly what you want in your wedding day of coordinator 💕
