The Washington State Horse Park is open daily from April through October to all who wish to build skills and horsemanship, participate in first rate competitions and enjoy spectacular trails. Spectators, hikers and RV campers are also welcome! Ample spacious trailer parking, hook ups, showers, 160+ stalls, wash racks, 4 large outdoor arenas, a NEW covered arena, more than 10 miles of trails...and all this just for starters. Just a quick reminder - the Park is closed to outside horses until Sept. 7th as we welcome the Cascade Horse Shows Finals!

We’re looking forward to having all the wonderful hunter/jumper horses and their humans joining us this coming week for an action-packed weekend in our arenas.

Want to see the high-flying fun for yourself? The event is free for spectators, so come out and enjoy the show!

💩 OK. TIME TO GET HONEST. 💩

Everyone wants to keep the cost of horse shows down — and here’s one incredibly practical, easy thing every single person at the Horse Park can do to help:

Pick up manure. Yep. That’s it. 😂

It doesn’t matter if you’re a trainer, competitor, parent, volunteer, spectator, or you don’t know a fetlock from a forelock. If you see a pile of manure where it shouldn’t be, help us out and pick it up.

And we make it easy: we have muck buckets located throughout the Park for anyone and everyone to use.

It might seem like a little thing, but it actually matters.

🐴 Manure may be organic, but it breaks down our gravel surfaces over time.

👢 Nobody wants to accidentally step in a pile while walking around enjoying a show.

💵 And here’s the big one: If you don’t pick it up, we do.

And if we do it, we have to pay someone to do it.

And if we have to pay someone to do it…those costs eventually have to be passed along somewhere.

See the cycle? 💩➡️🧹➡️💵➡️💩

Now, we get it. You’re on your horse, you’re headed to the arena, and hopping off to grab a manure fork isn’t exactly practical. No problem! Come back for it later. Or, even better, pick up someone else’s pile along the way. Someone else can return the favor.

It takes a village to keep a facility this size clean, maintained, and affordable — and a whole bunch of people doing one tiny thing can make a surprisingly BIG impact.

Not just on how the Horse Park looks today, but on what it costs to operate — and ultimately what it costs to show here — tomorrow.

So let’s do this, horse community. See a pile? Pick a pile. 💩🙌

You may have noticed this sign at the Horse Park… and it means good things are happening! 🐴

The notice posted near our entrance is connected to one of three major enhancement projects currently moving through planning and permitting at the Washington State Horse Park.

This particular project is for a new fence behind our competition spaces, designed to provide additional visual screening and security for our riding and competition areas. Once permitting is complete, we’ll be ready to move quickly toward construction.

And it’s just one piece of what’s ahead.

We’re also actively working through two other significant projects:

• A noise-control berm along I-90 and the Derby Field, designed to help reduce highway noise and improve the experience for horses and riders.

• Our next major buildout phase, which will bring additional parking, RV spaces and other important improvements to the property.

Each project has its own process and timeline, and permitting takes time. But while much of that work happens quietly behind the scenes, we wanted you to know what signs like this one actually mean:

Funds are secured. Plans are moving forward. Permits are in process. And improvements are coming.

There is a lot happening behind the scenes at the Horse Park, and we can’t wait to share more about each of these projects as they move forward.

So the next time you see a public notice posted at the Park, don’t worry — it just might be a sign of something pretty exciting to come. 💚🐴

We’ve been busy buttoning up this show, welcoming another event to the Park, AND getting everything ready for our September Buckle Up! show. Whew! 😅

Not quite! We will not have the complete Buckle Up! series standings until all points are finalized on the last day of our September show. Once the final classes are complete and everything is tallied, we’ll share the full series results.

One of the things we’ve worked hard to do with our Buckle Up! schooling series this year is offer two things: FUN and EDUCATION.

We’ve had costume classes, freestyles, BBQs and plenty of reasons to enjoy a weekend at the Park. But just as important are the clinics, Ride & Reviews, Judge’s Critique evening and now our Rope & Drag Obstacle Skills Class.

Which brings us to THE DRAG. 😬

Rope length. Log weight. Log position. How the rope feels. The setup you practiced at home suddenly looks completely different.

And that’s the point — every show will be a little different. A big part of becoming a better ranch rider is learning how to evaluate the obstacle you’re given, use it to best exhibit your horse’s ability, and work through it safely.

Whether you’ve never practiced a drag, still have questions, or you’re seasoned and think you know it all 😉, this evening is for you.

Sue will cover what judges are looking for, how to improve your score, and most importantly, how to work the obstacle SAFELY for both you and your horse.

Just $10, open to anyone, and light snacks included — because snacks obviously help with learning.

Come learn, ask questions, socialize and head home a little more prepared for the next time that rope and log show up in the arena… which, let’s be honest, is almost every time you show! 🤠🐴

It’s a gorgeous morning at the Horse Park as we welcome the EI Fall Horse Trials & USEA Area VII Championships! ☀️🐴

Horses and trailers are rolling in, the sun is shining, the grounds are looking beautiful, and we’re excited for a full weekend of activity here at the Park.

Equestrians Institute has been a longtime supporter and partner of the Washington State Horse Park, and their team has worked tirelessly on the cross-country courses and grounds to bring a high-quality, exciting event to our area. We’re grateful for the partnership we have with EI — and we absolutely love seeing so many incredible horses and riders competing at our facility.

Here’s what’s happening this weekend:

Thursday, August 27
• 10:00 AM–4:00 PM — Schooling Dressage & Show Jumping Tests
• 3:00 PM — Cross-Country course opens for rider inspection

Friday, August 28
• 8:30 AM — Dressage for all divisions and levels

Saturday, August 29
• 8:30 AM — Show Jumping for Beginner Novice, Starter & Grasshopper
• 9:00 AM — Cross-Country for Training, Novice, Intermediate, Preliminary & Modified

Sunday, August 30
• 8:00 AM — Show Jumping for Intermediate, Preliminary, Modified, Training & Novice
• 9:00 AM — Cross-Country for Beginner Novice, Starter & Grasshopper

Spectators are welcome and the event is FREE to watch!

One important note: the Park is VERY full this weekend. If you’re coming out to watch, please park along the power lines so we can keep our main roadways clear and accessible for horses, riders, trailers and event traffic. The Park is CLOSED to all nonevent horses.

🎉 The September Buckle Up! Ranch Horse Schooling Show is officially posted!

We’re looking forward to our FINAL Ranch Horse Schooling Show of the season — mostly because it means we get to see all of you one more time before fall and winter settle in! 🍂🐴

As always, we’ll have:
• Two days of clinics
• Friday Ride & Review
• A full weekend of Ranch Horse Schooling Show fun

PLUS, we’re adding something new Thursday evening in the Pavilion:

🤠 **Rope & Drag Obstacle Skills Class with Sue!**

Everyone’s favorite — and quite possibly the most critiqued — Ranch Trail obstacle: **THE DRAG.**

Sue will walk through the ins and outs of working the rope and drag obstacle, including how to approach it, dally correctly, recoil your rope, and set yourself and your horse up for a better run. She’ll also talk through some recommended tack upgrades that can make the job a whole lot easier. And, as part of this bonus evening, we’re excited to have **Panattoni Leather** joining us to answer your saddle and tack questions! Light snacks will be provided. BYOB and come enjoy a relaxed evening of learning and visiting with friends.

Reservations are LIVE! 🎟️🐴

We’re so excited for the 2026 Unbridled Gala: The Year of the Horse Park, happening October 24, 2026 at the Marriott Bellevue!

Individual seats and full tables are now available through our official event website. The Unbridled Gala is the Horse Park’s biggest fundraiser of the year, and this year we have some exciting news to share about what’s ahead for the Park.

Join us for an evening of dinner, silent and live auctions, games, Raise the Paddle, and plenty of time to celebrate the community that makes the Washington State Horse Park so special.

After another busy summer season, the Gala is a wonderful chance to come together, celebrate where we are, and look ahead to what’s next. Funds raised through the evening help the Horse Park continue serving recreational, competitive, and educational riders and horse enthusiasts of all disciplines, ages, and skill levels.

We have two full weeks of big events ahead at the Horse Park! 🐴

With that in mind, the Park will be closed to outside horses through September 7 while we welcome two of the largest events of our season.

First up is the amazing EIHT Fall Event, bringing some incredible three-day eventing horses to the Park. Over the course of three days, horse-and-rider teams compete in dressage, show jumping, and cross country to see who comes out on top.

Then we roll right into the Cascade Horse Shows Finals, where hunter/jumper horses will be flying through the arenas as competitors battle for the top honors in their divisions for 2026.

These two shows mark the biggest final push of our season. Once they wrap up, our calendar opens back up a bit for recreational use and some of our smaller fall events.

But we’re not done yet! We still have plenty of season left before winter shutdown, so be sure to plan a visit in September or October. The Park is especially beautiful as summer winds down and those crisp fall mornings begin to settle in. There’s nothing quite like a peaceful ride around the Park in the fall.
