CLE ELUM, WA – As Kittitas County residents prepare for a dry summer and increased fire risks, the Swauk Teanaway Grange, in partnership with the Upper County Senior Center & KCFD7, will host a wildfire Preparedness Seminar on managing fire risks for homes and property.

April is Grange Month, a time to celebrate the impact Granges make in communities across America.

This year, we are highlighting the theme “Growing From the Ground Up!” — recognizing that the strength of the Grange begins in our local communities, where members come together to serve, lead, and make a difference.

Throughout April, we invite Grangers everywhere to participate in . Each Monday, we will share a prompt encouraging members, Granges, and leaders to tell their story and highlight the work happening in their communities.

From service and agriculture to building leadership and stronger communities, the Grange continues to grow because of the work happening at the local level.

Follow along each Monday and share your stories using and as we celebrate how the Grange is Growing From the Ground Up!

♥️ American Heart Month: Nourishing Strong Hearts

Heart health is closely connected to food security and self-sustainability—two pillars of the National Grange’s Project Sustenance initiative.

When communities have access to affordable, nutritious food, they are better positioned to prevent chronic illness and support long-term wellness. Across the country, Granges are addressing this need through food drives, community meals, educational programs, and support for local food systems.

Heart-Healthy Recipe Idea: Roasted Sweet Potato & Black Bean Bowl

Ingredients:
• Roasted sweet potatoes
• Black beans (rinsed, low-sodium)
• Brown rice or quinoa
• Spinach or mixed greens
• Olive oil, garlic, cumin, and black pepper

This simple, budget-friendly meal is rich in fiber, plant-based protein, and healthy fats—and easily adaptable with local or seasonal ingredients.

Through Project Sustenance, Granges are helping ensure that healthy choices are accessible choices, strengthening hearts and communities alike.

Summer weddings are beautiful at the Grange! Our setting looks toward Lookout Mountain to the south and the Teanaway Valley to the west. We want to share some comments from a couple who were married at the Grange in August.

"Having our wedding at the most beautiful Grange in Washington State was a great experience! The volunteers are supportive, easy going, and willing to help. The venue is beautiful and welcoming and includes so many of the amenities necessary to host a great event. The views from the hill onto the Teanaway Valley are breathtaking and our guests were blown away by the whole experience. We highly recommend this space to others. Thank you for making our special day all the more special."
