Such a sweet afternoon! Six month old Dandelion was fascinated by the farm’s barn cat, Pockets.

Dandelion’s mother, Daisy, was only three weeks old when she came to the farm. Her mother was ill and couldn’t care for her so we bottle fed Daisy for months. Every night Pockets would curl up in a pile of hay next to Daisy and keep her company.

I wonder if Pockets can tell that Dandelion is her friend’s daughter.

One of the farm’s recent Airbnb guests was Kara Ffield, an artist. While here, she spent her days in the pasture photographing, sketching and getting to know the farm’s horses. At night she would journal. Here is what she created.

An Ode to Horses is a beautiful narrative, of images and words, of her time at the farm with our gentle giants. She wrote. “The Clydesdale bowed his head twice successively then turned back towards the stable, his feathered legs streaming behind him. I had been accepted.”

A nature artist's musing journal entry on meeting four horses at dawn at a farm in the Appalachian mountains — the inspiration behind her new silverpoint and equine fine art.

Getting a few sweet licks from 6-week-old Dandelion. Her licking is a form of social bonding. It is how she shows affection and trust.

Her mother, Daisy, also loves people, especially brides carrying bouquets of delicious-looking flowers. The cows, donkeys and horses at Satolah Creek Farm all get involved in the wedding festivities.

At Satolah Creek Farm, the animals don’t just make an appearance—they become part of the celebration. From curious calves to gentle donkeys, and a majestic Clydesdale who pulls a white carriage, every moment feels a little more magical.

With two full days on the farm, luxury accommodations for up to 40 guests, and experiences like cow cuddles, pottery, hiking, fishing, and more, your wedding becomes more than a day—it’s an unforgettable getaway.

✨ Come make a little magic of your own—book a tour or reserve your dates today.
