We are very happy to once again share one of our favorite annual traditions: an ofrenda for Dรญa de los Mu***os!
๐๐
For those of you who are unfamiliar, an ofrenda is an ancestor altar which is traditionally built in honor of Dรญa de los Mu***os (a.k.a. The Day of the Dead). This is a Hispanic tradition with a rich cultural history.
Every year, a Mexican-American Boston Tea Room staff member builds an ofrenda in our shop and then invites the staff to add photos of loved ones who have passed, along with treats or libations they enjoyed in life. In this tradition, it is believed that spirits can cross over to visit their living families and loved ones.
๐๐
Our ofrenda will remain set up until November 4th.
We hope youโll stop by to check it out!
P.S. A very warm thank you to Heather's Victory Gardens for donating the dried marigold garlands shown hanging on the wall behind our ofrenda!
