Surprisingly, creating condolence arrangements has become something I truly enjoy as a flower farmer and florist. It definitely was not a market sector I was interested in until a loyal client unfortunately needed and requested them. After having done several condolence arrangements, I wish I could say it gets easier, but it does not. While harvesting and creating these arrangements, I slow down and reflect on the loved ones that are missed and the sudden void in families and friendships.

Delivering two arrangements to two different families today reminded me to reflect on the true meaning of life and taking that moment to appreciate those loved ones around us.

There’s something bittersweet about cutting the final stems, knowing these vibrant blooms won’t return until the weather cools down again. Snapdragons have been a steady joy in the studio — full of character, color, and whimsy.

As a florist, saying goodbye (even temporarily) to a flower you’ve loved working with is like finishing a good book: satisfying, but a little sad.
⠀
Grateful for what the season gave us, and already dreaming of the first chill that will bring them back again. Until then, we savor the last stems and shift with the season. 💐✨
