After such a long journey: the story is approaching an end. The remaining inventory of the store is being liquidated at great prices: from mascots, costumes, vintage clothes to the display cases, shelves, mannequins and so many accessories and bric a brak. Stop by and find a treasure!
The store will be open from 12:00 to 4:00 tomorrow. Closed Sunday and Monday and reopening on Tuesday.
Lots of treasures to be had and for those of use who frequented the store, stories to tell! This is a cash only event.

The Cincinnati theater and costume communities have lost a major talent and a dear friend. Stephen Rausch died peacefully, in the company of friends, Sunday, May 30, at UC Medical Center. A self-taught artist and designer, for nearly 40 years he created beautiful, whimsical and elegant costumes for Schenz Theatrical Supply with his life-partner of 50 years, Jonn Schenz. Stephen’s designs ranged from elaborate and historically accurate Elizabethan and Victorian stage costumes to animal mascots, most famously the Easter bunnies featured at the White House every year since 1981 (see comments below). Since retiring from the business in 2011, his passion had been creating magical high-fashion dolls, which he generously shared. Though a quiet and even reclusive person, he was cherished for his warmth and wit by those who had the privilege of knowing or working with him. He is, and will be, cherished and greatly missed.

“There’s no good time for a pandemic, but COVID-19 hit at a particularly terrible juncture. The costume supply industry has been decimated over the past three to six years, as some theatres, school drama programs, and citizens holding lavish costume parties have turned to Amazon and even Party City for wardrobe. At one time, the National Costume Association had 350 members, but it’s dwindled to 100....”

Costume World Theatrical, the field’s largest wardrobe supplier, is yet another business left hanging by the pandemic.
