One year without you Alejandro Ortega, and not a day goes by where you’re not missed.
You are loved—so deeply. From high school on, we built a family together. Modern Day Hippies (MDH) wasn’t just a name or an acronym, it was a bond, a family, a brotherhood. We were everywhere, doing a lot of stupid things, a lot of good things, and trying to figure out life the only way we knew how.
We struggled. We laughed hard. We messed up. We showed up for each other anyway.
You helped me through some of my darkest moments, even while fighting your own battles. That kind of loyalty and heart doesn’t get forgotten. You had a way of making people feel seen, understood, and less alone—and that’s something I’ll always carry with me.
Music was always a part of who you were, it wasn't just something you listened to or made. It was something you felt, how you cope and how you connected. Music carried you through the highs and lows, and somehow carried the rest of us too. Whether, it was just the songs we shared or the songs we made your passion for music brought people together. Even now certain songs make it feel like your still right here, reminding us that some souls never really go quiet.
Life looks different without you here, but your memory still lives in every song, every laugh, every story, every moment that reminds me of where we came from. I miss you more than words can say.
Forever MDH. 🤍
Que Dios misericordioso reciba su alma en la paz eterna,
que brille para ella la luz perpetua,
y que descanse en paz. Amén.
