At an early age Jordan developed a profound respect for ingredients working at a local farmer’s market on Chicago’s North Shore. In the fresh air, he studied produce seasonality and selection, heightening his respect for each individual ingredient. From there, he took his first kitchen job at a private country club and developed his skills in catering large-scale events, upwards of 5000 guests. Paired with knowledge of event planning from his uncle, Chuck Share, owner of the upscale Wedding Inc. and his love for cooking, Jordan found he could succeed in planning and catering large events with the feel of intimate fine dining. Jordan linked up with Gordon’s renowned chef, Don Yamaguchi, beginning the lessons that would refine his culinary capabilities. With a desire to continue his epicurean education, Jordan headed to the Culinary Institute of America in New York. There he polished his technique, style, and presentation among America’s culinary new guard. Returning after graduation to his hometown of Chicago he worked at Le Francais and Charlie Trotter’s while catering private parties on Chicago’s North Shore for friends and family. Jordan longed for a space of his own to plan and create intimate events. After stumbling upon a loft-like space Jordan, the entrepreneur, created a new style of private dining. This space includes a fully exposed show kitchen, no walls and an original 126-year-old wrought iron window separating the dining room and showing off the cleanliness of the dish area. Nothing to hide was the goal. Today Jordan is owner and executive chef of Jordan’s Food of Distinction.
