๐Ÿ’ซ DOUBLE ALBUM RELEASE ๐Ÿ’ซ

10/9: Mike Reed's Separatist Party + Resavoir

Isn't Chicago the best? You won't get this anywhere else. Jazz heads, look alive!!! Don't miss your chance to catch performances for these two highly anticipated albums. Tickets are already moving quickly, don't wait.

Sing the Color Blue reunites Mike Reed () with Rob Frye (), Cooper Crain, Dan Quinlivan (all of the trio Bitchin Bajas- ), Marvin Tate (), and Ben LaMar Gay ( 's ) in a set that moves between composition, reconstruction, improvisation, and song form.

Drawing inspiration from the atmospheric sound worlds of Jon Hassell and Flying Lotus as well as the heavy drums, smeared samples, and weightless textures of cloud rap, Above The Clouds captures the current incarnation of Resavoir (): a band using electronic instruments with the spontaneity and interplay of an improvising ensemble.

๐ŸŒŸ JUST ANNOUNCED ๐ŸŒŸ

10/14: Jeremy Cunningham () is a composer, drummer, and producer whose music is shaped through improvisation, storytelling, and a deep connection to Chicagoโ€™s creative music community. Long-standing collaborative relationships and a belief in collective music-making have become the foundation of his practice, where fragments of piano sketches, lines of poetry, field recordings, and rhythmic ideas are transformed into richly layered works that blur the boundaries between jazz, experimental music, and song. His 2020 debut as a leader on Northern Spy, The Weather Up There, earned widespread critical acclaim from Pitchfork, TIME, Bandcamp, the Chicago Tribune, Dusted, and others, with Josh Terry calling it โ€œone of the most affecting jazz albums in recent memory.โ€

๐ŸŒŸ JUST ANNOUNCED ๐ŸŒŸ

4/7: In today's fast-paced mid-apocalyptic world it can feel like a waste of time to speak about time at all. Why dwell on the past when we could just live in the present because the future won't shut up about how bad it's going to be? But with This is the Kit () aka Kate Stables (songwriter / banjo strummer / pinhole camera lover /Wi******er UK born Parisdweller), we're going to have to give time just a modicum of consideration. Because not only is Kate still here and making albums of cataclysmic honesty and welcoming tonal embraces, they are continuing to grow, which is probably the only smart way to move forward through time. This IsThe Kit's music places companionship at a premium, so being welcomed into its space feels like an obvious privilege, on record and in concert hall with her stellar supporting cast of Rozi Plain (bass), Jamie Whitby-Coles (drums) and Neil Smith (guitar). And at this current point in our confusing history, continuing to be here at all, o stand tall and make music to gather to, that's a heroic act. Joyful survival as an act of time-wasting, I'll take that any day of the week. Look to This IsThe Kit to spend at least one day of your week this year, I guarantee it will be time well wasted.

โœจ SUPPORT ADDED โœจ

9/18: NYC trailblazer AKAI SOLO (@) has been known for his relentless output since 2018. Notable releases include but are not limited to Black Sand with Pink Siifu, Mad Space with fellow Tase Grip member iblss, and True Sky with Navy Blue. The Brooklyn native has also released two projects on backwoodz studios, Body Feeling and Spirit Roaming. With such a refreshing and interesting approach to the artform it is easy to see why fellow heavy hitters such as Madlib, Alchemist, Earl Sweatshirt, and billy woods champion for him so strongly. After his second EU tour, first solo US tour and four incredible albums in the last two years (Verticality///Singularity, Only The Strong Remain, DREAMDROPDRAGON, and the critically acclaimed No Control, No Glory) on his own label, Break All Records. AKAI has a consistency with expanding that has no intention of letting up.
