The Irish American Heritage Center was honored to welcome Galway County Council and Mayor Mike Cubbard for a special reception last Tuesday, celebrating cultural and economic ties between Illinois and Galway.

🎶 The evening featured a powerful performance by the Chicago Garda Pipes and Drums, led by their director—and our very own board president—Tom Herion.

This past Sunday, we hosted a very special Mass & Full Irish Breakfast in celebration of the 40th Anniversary of the Irish American Heritage Center.

This month’s gathering honored our founders and early members—the visionaries whose dedication and passion built this incredible home for Irish heritage, culture, and community. We were thrilled to see such a wonderful turnout from our IAHC family and friends, who came together to mark this milestone and celebrate 40 years of connection. It was truly a morning to remember.

In 1985, volunteers in Chicago’s Irish community took a leap of faith and bought an abandoned school. With elbow grease and imagination, they transformed it into something extraordinary.
