Saturday Drawing Club- a combo of good people with an interest in drawing, relaxation, and human connection. Drop-ins are a-ok, and if you like it, sign up for 8 weeks (suggested). Not available every week? No problem! Just use your classes within 8 months, and you won’t lose any credits. (Hey, we’re all busy adults with families, cats, jobs…) You can join us, too! Announcing a new multi-week course for fall: FIGURE DRAWING FOR BEGINNERS! Led by the inimitable and talented Alyssa Gonzalez, this course will introduce or deepen your understanding of how to draw the human form. You’ll work mostly from live models, and by the end of this 6-weeks, you’ll be more confident with drawing humans! Class meeting time is Sundays 3:30-5:30pm, starting October 18th. We now offer KIDS CHESS CLASSES! Chess Wizards, the excellent company that brings the fun and benefits of chess to children across the country, is launching their first series of classes HERE at Lemon Wedge Arts! The classes cost just $23 per lesson, and the series runs for 8 weeks, Saturdays from 10-11am, starting October 17th.

AND, for the artistically inclined grown-ups, who may want to stay and enjoy some creative fun while their kids play chess, we are offering a one-hour Saturday Sketch Class from 10-11am! It meets upstairs in our boutique, high-ceilinged parlor studio, and features a choice of subject matter each week: still-life setups to sketch, magazines to sketch from, and simple, stress-reducing drawing exercises to enjoy. Families who sign up for both chess and sketch classes get a 50% discount on the sketch class! Whoa.

I arrived at Lemon Wedge this morning to see that our building has been modified during the night with some new mark-making. I think they took our tagline “Art with us”, and thought we meant “please deface our building”. To be clear, that was not what we meant, but it’s fun to start the week being on the receiving end of a bit of relatively-harmless crime involving art supplies!
