It’s been one year since we closed our castle doors, and what a year it’s been! 💕
Last night, we celebrated that one year mark with a team reunion, and it was incredible to spend time with each other and talk about all that’s changed for everyone in the past year, and to reminisce about our favorite memories… and maybe our less than favorite memories as the evening went on. 😝
After closing our company doors, we sold the majority of our inventory, and it was INCREDIBLE to see so many of our beloved costumes, wigs, accessories, and supplies ship to (literally) all over the world. We received countless messages of thanks, encouragement, support, and excitement from other company owners as they brought their characters to life in our costumes and wigs, and it was a beautiful feeling of closure watching those cherished pieces continue to make magical memories for children all over the world. (It’s also been fun to see how Party Like A Princess has impacted so many other character companies and their business models/choices after we’ve closed- it’s clear we’ve left our mark! 😉)
Then, after everything was completely wrapped up with closing, we took our families to Disney World to celebrate 12 years of hard work!!
✨✨✨
A LOT has changed in this past year- Olivia and her family moved to the western suburbs and they are currently expecting Baby Number 3 in a few weeks! Angelica is also getting ready to welcome another baby to her family- her sweet boy will be here in the fall! Both Olivia and Angelica are still running Joyful Grace Photography & Events, and our amazing performer, Iliana, joined the Joyful Grace team this past year, too! On top of that, the year was filled with graduations, new jobs, new homes, incredible vacations, weddings, stage performances, and the continued love and support between our team members.
It’s also been a year filled with peace. While we would never talk about it before, the industry, as a whole, changed so greatly in recent years, and it’s been really, really refreshing to be away from it. It was always a blessing to have a team filled with genuinely good souls- it’s incredibly rare in this industry to have a full, reliable, talented team that all show up genuinely and authentically. That made all the difference in our industry, where so much is fake, embellished, and self-serving. We can never thank our team and community enough for allowing us to stay the opposite of that.
It’s also been a year filled with getting to be on the other side of it all… Going to parades and actually getting to watch them, going to parties as guests, being able to watch our own children enjoy magical moments, and- most of all- having so much more time to spend with our loved ones.
So… when people ask us “Do you miss it?”, we smile and gently say “No.” Because that’s the truth. The wonderful memories are in the past, where they belong. The not-so-great parts of the industry are far away, where they belong. And the best parts of it all- the friendships, the community connections, and the whole mission of Party Like A Princess- are all still here… where they belong.
Much love,
Angelica, Olivia, and the Party Like A Princess Team 💕
