BURST Event Co

BURST Event Co Planning a wedding sucks for a million reasons, but it shouldn't have to. We are relational. We are inclusive. We are creative problem-solvers.

That's why we've developed a planning process that's designed to help you create clear goals for your wedding, get a simple plan, stop going it alone & have a wedding that is SO YOU Burst Event Co is an award-winning team of Chicago Wedding Planners with a combined experience of 30+ years in events. Our diverse backgrounds in event planning, hospitality, wedding & event design, film & TV productio

n & fashion makes us a well-rounded team of logistics experts, design fairies & guest experience specialists. Our expert team has been featured in national publications like The Associated Press, NBC News, Wedding Chicks, and Maharani Weddings. Because we know that wedding planning overwhelm is stealing joy from engaged couples, there are certain key characteristics we know we need to have to accomplish our mission of getting all engaged couples back to being excited about getting married. What we do is 90% relationships and 10% wedding planning so we work hard to consistently strengthen our relationships with our customers, our vendor partners, and each other. Our mission is to get ALL engaged couples back to being excited about getting married. That means we lovingly & equally serve LGBTQ+ couples, BIPOC, in*******al couples, any couples of any religion. Planning a wedding requires creativity in everything from how we design a table to how we allocate a budget to how we manage a dropped cake on the wedding day to how we facilitate the resolution of family conflict.

Something special is coming for OGs! This year instead of throwing money at Zuck and Google via ads, I’m doing something wayyy better and giving it back to you!

It’s my little “thanks for being here” holiday treat (and the perfect nudge if wedding planning sucks and you want it to suck less)

PS thank you to all of Camp West for the most hype piece of content I own

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO US!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Today, BURST turns 5 years old! The tears I have in my eyes as I write this post are tears of joy, exhaustion, fear, pride, determination, and so much more.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I started this business in 2016 while nursing my 3-month-old baby, high on new girl mom hormones, determined to show my daughter what it looks like to have it all. A beautiful, healthy family and your own personal fulfillment. In the years to come our family grew into a family of 2 under 2 with a budding business and then boom 5 years later to all that it is today.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This year we hit some incredible milestones. Our first year hitting 6 figures (and well beyond), our growing team of SIX, putting myself on payroll for the first time, my husband joining our team full time, 2 venue partnerships, renting our first office, outgrowing our first office, signing a lease for our first studio space that will be our home for at least the next 3 years, and so so many plans for expansion over the next 12 months.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Thank you from the bottom of my heart to every single person reading this. For your support and love over the last 5 years. You've made my wildest dreams for my life come true and I am so eternally grateful to you.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And to my team who believes in me and my vision for this company more than I do some days, thank you for being here. You have made me more proud than I could have imagined and have given my life meaning as your leader for this next phase of my role as CEO to this incredible company we have built together.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I love you all so very much.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Here's to the first 5 and the next!

WE'RE HIRING A COMMUNICATIONS INTERN!

Are you meant to be a Communications Manager?

Do you thrive best in a position that requires you to be both strategic and creative? (A set of skills that are usually not synonymous)
Are you super outgoing and love connecting with people?
Do you intuitively understand how consumers engage with content?
Are you a talented communicator both written and verbally?
Do you love creating gorgeous content?
Do you work well both collaboratively and independently?
Are you a social media ju**ie who loves learning and keeping up with the latest social media trends?

BURST Event Co is a quickly growing Event Planning Agency. We currently specialize in weddings but are in the process of expanding into floral + custom decor design, social event planning + styling, as well as corporate events. We serve Chicago and the surrounding areas. We offer our employees a flexible schedule, ample growth opportunities, and a position that allows you to work creatively and strategically with a large amount of autonomy.

The Company. BURST Event Co is entering its 6th year in business. We're known by our clients, followers, and vendor partners for our deep love & compassion for people, our big smiles & infectious laughter, our candidness, and absolute lack of BS.

The Position. We are looking for a Communications Intern who either has at least 1 year of major classes completed in PR, Communications, Marketing, or Social Media Marketing/Management or is someone with an events background that is looking to pivot into a Communications role. Other qualifications are as follows:

A laptop with regular internet access
Access to a printer
A valid driver's license, vehicle & insurance
Working knowledge of Google Suites

What you'll do. In this position, you'll work closely with our CEO to develop communication strategies for all market-facing content. This role will evolve over the duration of the 6-month long internship and will grow in phases:

Phase 1: Social Media Management: Assisting with developing creative and impactful content on Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, and Pinterest, assist in designing those content pieces, and then executing the distribution of that content. You'll also actively engage in our online communities by commenting on, reacting to, and sharing other people's content, as well as learn how to track analytics to measure the success of posted content and use that data to make informed decisions on what type of content to create more of and what content to adjust and improve.

Phase 2: Marketing Management: Assisting with developing all of our marketing initiatives, including producing blog and video content, email marketing campaigns, and creation of lead magnets. You'll also learn how to create FB, IG, and Google ads, as well as learn how to read, manage the metrics for those.

Phase 3: Communications/PR Management: Assisting with writing interview/story pitches for written publications and news outlets, submitting styled shoots and real weddings to various wedding publications, and working with our events team to produce live marketing-driven events.

Phase 4: Offer for paid Communications + Marketing Manager role at BURST Event Co: Upon successful completion of your internship and with the agreement of the entire BURST Team that you're an excellent fit for our team culture, you'll be offered a paid position within the company to take leadership of all Social Media, Marketing, and Communications/PR initiatives that will include hiring, training and leading a team of interns to assist you in executing all of your projects.

What you get. Your position will be a hybrid work environment with some work onsite and some being done remotely, and your schedule will be flexible (within certain boundaries), but does require travel to various event sites to capture BTS content, as well as travel to our office (currently located in Wicker Park, but moving to Uptown in December) at least 2x per week. Compensation for this role includes a monthly stipend (between $150-$300/month depending on part-time or full-time), college credit (if applicable), and real-life job training.

The COVID-19 pandemic has wreaked havoc on the restaurant industry for the last 18 months. Beginning with the closure of all indoor dining, fears of contracting the virus while dining out once restaurants reopened, permanent restaurant closures, ever-changing guidelines, labor shortages, the Great Resignation, and now the spike of the Delta Variant has restaurant fans seeking ways to gather with friends and family for celebrations and connection.

Enter in The Dinner Party.

Before the rise of the restaurant industry, happy hours, and bottomless mimosas, Friday and Saturday nights, as well as Sunday morning brunch was hosted at the homes of our family, coworkers, and friends.

The hosting person would cook or order catering, design a beautiful table setting with customized place cards, pull out the drink cart and music, and pick a conversation-inducing party game. Guests would arrive and be greeted at the door. Apps and drinks would be passed as guests caught up on each other's current life events, then after a while, everyone would sit for dinner. The evening would continue with coffee, dessert and a party game. Guests would leave feeling full, a little tipsy, and very connected.

While the restaurant industry continues to reel from the effects of the COVID 19 pandemic, more people are starting to reconnect through the hosting of dinner parties. While they are definitely more work for the hosting person, the experience is easily curated, safe gathering is much more easily attainable, and after so long a part, the intimacy of the dinner party is a refreshing change.

Have you attended a dinner party lately? What was it like? Do you hope the trend will stick around?

Why We Exist

A lot of couples get engaged & quickly go from over the moon to completely overwhelmed. We walk through the wedding planning process with you, side by side, with a planning structure designed to keep planning simple & fun.

What's in a Name?

Lillian is the name of my oldest daughter & Rose is the name of my niece! Poor little Eleanor was born after LRE was created, (otherwise the name would be something like Eleanor Lily Events) so we renamed a package in her honor! I chose this name to create a legacy of strength, leadership & creativity for these little girls & to put the foundation of legacy, family, & love the company was founded on at the forefront of the business.
