After a soggy start to the season, playoff night 2.0 finally delivered the beautiful weather we’ve all been waiting for.

The Gold Championship featured a familiar showdown between Zboyz and Hakeem Oboccewon, two teams that are no strangers to the pressure cooker of a Gold finals. From the opening frame, both sides kept things tight, refusing to give up big frames. At halftime, Hakeem held a slim 9-6 lead. But the second half belonged to Zboyz. They locked in, limited Hakeem to just a single point after the break, and stormed back to claim the win with a 17-10 victory with a dramatic pallino shot by Patric to end it. Congrats to Zboyz on another championship run!

The Silver Championship saw Rolling Admissions take on Pallino Grigio. Despite Rolling Admissions’ best efforts to claw their way into the match, Pallino Grigio controlled the game from start to finish. Whenever it looked like the damage had been limited, MVP Matt would find a way to sneak in another point. Backed by the unwavering moral support of Goodest Boy Bruce, Pallino Grigio rolled their way to a dominant Silver Championship victory.

After weathering a week of tornado watches and floods, the Lobo Thursday night playoffs were finally underway last night. With no true cut front runner, it was anyone’s evening for glory.

We had Le Polpette and Roku City Football Club face off in the Silver finals- It was a tight battle back and forth, but Ron on Polpettes would own the big moment for a walk off point for the win- AND THE CROWD GOES WILD!

In Gold we had a fun path to the semifinals- Mochi Balls turned some heads early with a dominant win over #1 seeded Beef Bowls, while the Bocce Buds clawed their way out of 0-5 deficit against locked in No Balls tying the score at 8-8 for an extra frame. Buds clench their butts and hold their breath and their point to advance to another Lobo Gold final.

In The Chip- Mochi Balls would jump out early for a 5-0 lead, but the Buds were all too familiar with comebacks to sit back and let the moment slip away. Mochi Balls would have a few frames to keep the gallery chirping, but the Buds had all but mastered the the “Pizza court curl” to pile on the points and claim their 3rd ABC league championship, and their 2nd at Lobo.

Congrats to all on a great season and thanks for finding time for bocce during your busy summers! See you in July!

What a way to close out our first season back at Montrose Saloon! Montrose Raccoons proved that spending all season reffing games pays off, combining smart strategy with a deadly mix of precise pointing and laser focused shooting to catch fire at exactly the right time. Everything clicked on playoff night as the hometown refs put together a championship run and captured the inaugural title at ABC’s favorite new neighborhood league.

Huge props to runner-up Balls Deep, who entered the playoffs as the underdog No. 10 seed and made an incredible run all the way to the final duel. After knocking off top seeds along the way, this neighborhood gang made the Raccoons fight hard for every frame in a close 16-9 championship match.

Live music, food trucks, fireplace patio hangs, and some of the best bocce around made Wednesday nights at Montrose Saloon something special. Thanks to everyone who helped make this new league such a success, and make sure you sign up for next season to get in on the action!

Park Rangers take down Westside Slime from the 7 seed. Coming into the night as a Darkhorse and down one of their best players Brick stepped in to fill in for Laura to put together an epic playoff run taking out Kirkland Signature in the play in game, then downing the red hot Bocce Beets Battlestar Galactica, then ousting Rolling Balls of Fury, and finally taking down Westside Slime to win it all. All members taking home their first pin! Finals MVP was given to Sweet Pete on the spot and the rest is history.

Blue Team finally got their moment! After two summers of dominating the regular season, they broke through and captured their first Pizza Lobo championship pin. They stared down this season’s top seed in a semifinal battle that came down to the final frame, then knocked off defending champs Ballortening to complete the run.

Ballortening wasn’t going quietly. Their five-player squad once again proved why they’re one of the league’s best, highlighted by a walk-off casino in the semis that punched their ticket to the finals.

Meanwhile, Fungus Amongus made the Silver Bracket look easy. Precise points, clutch rolls, great vibes, and they looked good doing it.

This weekend, we hosted our first-ever ABC x CBC Tournament at the Chicago Bocce Club!

24 teams made up of familiar ABC faces, CBC club members, and friends who traveled in from near and far battled through group play on both the indoor and outdoor courts for a full day of competitive bocce.

The championship featured two teams who’d navigated the day undefeated: ABC 1 (Alex Gara, Andy Zimmerman, Lauren McDermott, Dave Krone) and Jeppson’s of Anarchy (Kurt Pozsgay, Matt Brooker, Ray Stauffer, Eric Yohnka). Something had to give, one team would suffer its first loss of the day, and one team would leave as champions.

The finals delivered everything you’d hope for from start to finish. Big raffas, daring pallino shots, near misses, tough breaks, and points decided by fractions of an inch. Both teams showed exactly why they’d gone undefeated all day. Ultimately, ABC 1 emerged victorious to become the inaugural ABC x CBC Tournament Champions!

Congratulations to Alex, Andy, Lauren, and Dave on an incredible run. The victory earned ABC 1 their pins and a permanent place as the first names engraved on the ABC x CBC Championship Trophy. It also marks Andy’s first black pin (finally!!).

A special congratulations as well to Theory of Rollativity, who won the Silver Bracket and represented the Southside proudly throughout the tournament.

Thank you to everyone who competed and helped make our first ABC x CBC Tournament a day to be remembered. We already can’t wait for the next one!

The 3rd Annual 2v2 did not disappoint! For the first two days, three flights played down to a final 16 teams, all invited back for a re-racked double elimination bracket. 16 of our strongest duos duked it out on Sunday, and in the end it was Milan and Sergio owning the strongest and deepest run, and outlasting a fiery Brigid and Gator pair in a 2-game championship set. Big kudos to both of these teams, who put on a show behind the glass at SPF.

This format really shines a light on our best and brightest stars, and that was made apparent by the absolute stackedness of the final few teams. Exhibit A:
