I had to choose between mom or dad’s song for this post… mom won.

There is something especially beautiful about witnessing two people becoming parents, but with twins… it feels like stepping into an entirely new kind of rhythm. A dance. One that will ask them to stretch, soften, laugh harder, hold tighter, and create space for twice the wonder all at once.

These two are brilliant creatives, and yet I have a feeling their greatest artwork is already unfolding right here. A colorful, layered, joy-filled life that is only just beginning.

This wasn’t a session about a baby. It was about the people becoming her parents.

When they reached out, they said they wanted something that didn’t feel too formal. Just their real days. Nursing. Contact naps. Tummy time. Walks around the block. It would be easy to photograph this season through the lens of milestones, to focus on her small movements, her expressions, her growth.

I wasn’t there to photograph her. I was there to witness them. The way they lean in without thinking. The quiet attentiveness. The way their entire world has softened around this one small life. And watching them together, there was such ease and peace between them, like they were always meant for this moment.
Tummy time wasn’t about tummy time. It was about two people learning how to be parents. Learning her. Watching her. Loving her in real time.

This is what I’m always looking for. Not just what is happening, but what it means. To document honestly, you have to be willing to see beyond the surface. To slow down enough to notice where the story is actually unfolding. And it’s almost never in the obvious place.
It’s in them, becoming.

Not perfection. Not everything in place.
I’m looking for the way they reach for you
without thinking. The way you gather them in
like it’s second nature. The way love lives in the smallest, most ordinary moments.

We see you.
In the invisible work.
In the constant presence.
In the way you hold it all together
and somehow make it feel soft.
We honor you.
Not just in the milestones
but in the in-between where most of motherhood actually lives.

And it’s our privilege
to be your memory keepers.
To hold this season for you
so one day, they can come back to it
and remember how it felt to be yours.

These sessions aren’t about getting it right.
They’re about being in it.

There’s a quiet story most mothers carry that no one else can see.
The one where you replay the day at night.
Where you notice the moments you were short.
Where you wonder if you’re doing enough.
But children don’t experience you through that lens.
They don’t measure your patience.
They don’t compare you to some future version of yourself.
They just experience you as presence.
As voice.
As the person who was there in their ordinary days.
That’s what becomes childhood.
Not perfection.
Not polished moments.
Just the feeling of being loved inside real life.
This is why I care so deeply about photographing mothers with their children.

Every now and then, someone walks in and it all just clicks. Meet Hannah our Studio & Experience Manager. She is the warm and steady presence behind the scenes at Our Days Photo & Film ensuring every client feels seen, cared for, and celebrated from the first email to the final gallery.
Her heart mirrors our values, connection, authenticity, and presence and her love and support have brought such effortless ease and intentionality to everything we do.
She was the missing piece the one who just gets it. The heart, the vision, the why behind it all.
Hannah ties it all together coordinating sessions, supporting our associate team, and making sure every experience feels calm, meaningful, and beautifully aligned with who we are.
Her grounded spirit and gentle leadership make this whole thing go round and I’m endlessly grateful for her. I can’t imagine doing this work without her.

I love when old work pops up on my phone it always reminds me why I do what I do. Every year, I feel more grateful for the legacy families I get to walk alongside…the ones who invite me into their stories again and again. Year after year.
Somewhere along the way, the line between client and friend blurs in the best way.
These are the families I know I’m in an exclusive relationship with, not because of a contract, but because we genuinely care about each other. The kind of clients I would go to when my heart was hurting & they would know they could do the same.

It’s the rhythms. The belly laughs.
The good life is made of the small things we say without words:

While I have never been a mother myself, I have the privilege of witnessing this transformation up close—through family, friends, and even more often, through my clients. I notice something as the first child enters. A shift. A recalibration of priorities. Perspective, in its purest form. And in that shift, there is something beautiful we can all learn from.
The things that once felt urgent—deadlines, texts, errands—suddenly matter less. Not because they aren’t important, but because love steps in, rearranging the order of everything.
For a brief season, time no longer something to manage—it’s something to soak in. (That’s until kids schedules begin lol)
Time once felt like a currency to be spent wisely, efficiently, always moving toward something. And yet, now, it stands still. Not wasted, but savored. Stretched out in the smallest moments.
