Nightcap. πŸŒ™ Everything we ran today, in one place.

11 AM, the room itself, because 20+ whiskeys and the people who made them beats any photo of a bottle we could take.
1 PM, Past Pours, The Fighting 69th, the one where a dollar from every bottle goes back to the regiment on the label.
3 PM, agave against grain for Top Shelf, two completely different clocks in the same glass.
5 PM, the Halloween costume contest, still undefeated, still ridiculous.

Summer Whiskey is 13 days out. Sat Aug 22, Kings in Chicago and The Celtic on Market in Denver.

The costume contest is real and last year the minions took it. πŸŽƒ

4 neighborhoods, 1 wristband, 1 night, and a genuinely unreasonable number of people who committed to the bit. Somebody always turns up as a full Mario Kart grid. Somebody always paints themselves green. Somebody always shows up in a bedsheet at 9pm and still has the best night of anyone.

Chicago, Sat Oct 31. Yes, Halloween lands on a Saturday this year, which is the single greatest scheduling decision the calendar has ever made. 😎

Agave or grain? 🌡πŸ₯ƒ At Top Shelf you do not have to pick, and this year one table is pouring both sides.

Stoller is bringing Cava de Oro on the agave side and Adictivo Small Batch on the grain side. Same tablecloth. Completely different clocks. The agave sat in the ground for years before anybody was allowed to touch it. The grain was ready in a season and then spent its time in oak quietly working out what it wanted to be. One of them made you wait. The other made you wait differently.

Come argue about which one wins. That is genuinely the whole activity. 😎

Sat Sep 26 at Kings in Lincoln Park. Chicago only this time, and we are choosing not to apologise for that.

Past Pours. πŸ₯ƒ The Fighting 69th.

Named after the New York regiment, and a dollar from every single bottle goes back to it. We have poured this one with you before and people always stayed at the table a minute longer than they meant to, because the label has a story and the whiskey backs it up.

A past favorite, not a promise for this year. The Aug 22 lineup is still dropping and there is a lot to like in it.

Thank you Fighting 69th Whiskey for pouring with us. Chicago at Kings in Lincoln Park, Denver at The Celtic on Market.

This is the room. πŸ₯ƒ

Not a bar, not a line, not somebody yelling your order back at you. It is 20+ whiskeys on one floor and the people who actually made them standing behind every pour, genuinely delighted you asked about the barrel.

You walk in curious. You walk out knowing exactly which bottle is coming home with you.

13 days. Sat Aug 22. Chicago at Kings in Lincoln Park, Denver at The Celtic on Market. Pouring so far: Field of Dreams, Patriarch XO, Snitching Lady, Salida Distillery and plenty more.

A tequila at a whiskey festival? Stay with us.

Suavecito ages its anejo 2 years in American oak ex-bourbon barrels, twice the time the rules actually require. Their extra anejo goes 5 years in retired bourbon barrels. That is why it lands sweet and round with that warm oak note the bourbon crowd chases, and it is exactly why it earned a table at a whiskey event.

Call it smooth. They call themselves the world's smoothest, then hand you the proof and let you decide.

Somebody has to be the designated driver, and it will not be you.

Top Shelf is the one where we go premium. Tequila AND whiskey, side by side, the bottles that usually live on the shelf you point at and never buy. Saturday September 26 at Kings in Lincoln Park, 1500 N Clybourn Ave.

Grab the group chat, pick your hero, and let them drive. El Nacimiento and Salvadores Mezcal are on the list. Chicago, this is the upscale Saturday you have been sleeping on.

14 days. That is the whole post.

Fine, here is more. Saturday August 22, 2 cities, 1 Saturday your calendar has been quietly protecting since June. Chicago, we are at Kings in Lincoln Park. Denver, The Celtic on Market is calling your name.

20+ pours on the table. Suavecito is bringing an anejo that sat 2 years in ex-bourbon barrels, which is a fancy way of saying the whiskey people are going to like it too. Cedar Ridge out of Iowa, Clear Water holding it down Mile High.
