What a weekend at Wolfie's Ribfest! Thank you for giving us a space to sell our BBQ.

We won the judge's choice award! Our char siu rib was smoked using post oak then braised and glazed in our house made char siu sauce. It was the same rib we did last year, with a couple of minor adjustments. Last year we didn't make the top 3. Sometimes all it takes are some minor adjustments to get the result you are looking for. Congrats to for winning the People's choice award.

Over the past few years, I have poured my heart into building the Umamicue brand, navigating countless setbacks that have tested our resilience. Happy Thursday, everyone! šŸŽ‰ Next Friday, February 21st, we’re popping up at starting at 5pm, and we couldn’t be more excited!
We’ll be serving a selection of dishes from our upcoming menu at , which is opening in March. And here’s the best part: all profits and gratuities from the night will benefit the , which is currently at imminent risk of closure.
For those who may not know, the Chicago Reader played a huge role in getting Umamicue discovered by hosting the legendary Monday Night Foodball, spearheaded by . It’s hands down the most memorable pop-up we’ve ever done, and now we want to give back. We’re hoping to help them raise the funds needed to keep the lights on.

Today marks the closing of our Umamicue location at Spilt Milk, signaling the end of an important chapter for us. This place will always hold a special place in my heart—it’s where we were first discovered. I’m deeply grateful to each and every one of you who supported us, shared our story, and believed in our vision. The memories we’ve created here over the past year and a half will stay with me forever. We truly fell in love with Logan Square the moment we opened our doors.

We’re incredibly proud of what we’ve accomplished—serving some of the best BBQ in one of the best neighborhoods in the greatest city in the world. Along the way, we earned a 3-star review from , were featured on and Best BBQ lists, and were most honored when .cue received the Rising Star award from .

We’ve also had the privilege of collaborating with some of the most talented chefs in the industry. From shutting down Spilt Milk for a tasting dinner with (and washing dishes for 5 hours!) to hosting a wildly successful Saturday brunch with , the journey has been nothing short of incredible. Looks like we’ll have to run it back soon, Michael 😊

But this isn’t the end of Umamicue—far from it. It’s only the beginning of a dream that I’m fortunate enough to live every day. While we’re closing our doors at Spilt Milk, we’re still serving at Little Victories, and we’d love for you to join us there.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you for being a part of this unforgettable journey.
