May 14, 2026: The last fundraiser of the Club year was conducted by our Literature Section. A luncheon with food items provided by Section members , the event featured a fascinating presentation by New York Times best selling author, Lynne Olson, who discussed her 2023 book, Empress of the Nike: The Daredevil Archaeologist Who Saved Egypt’s Ancient Temples from Destruction, to a capacity crowd of reader fans. Net proceeds from ticket sales will benefit the Glen Echo Partnership for Arts and Culture and the Woman’s Club of Chevy Chas Scholarship Fund. Pictured are Ms. Olson, Section Co-chairs Maryanne Courtney and Henri Keller, and long-time Literature Section member Jane Boynton. Next year’s program promises to be equally inviting, so be sure to stay tuned for announcements and get your tickets early!

The gardens at WCCC now include a designated Monarch Way Station, thanks to the follow through of Garden Section member Pat Robinson and the initial vision of our past president, Terry Blank, and a bit of labor from some volunteer diggers today. Send those Monarchs our way, as soon as our varieties of new milkweed mature!

A beautiful spring day led one of our mah jongg groups to move outside to the garden today. A fun day with friends and jokers for all!

Our April General Membership Meeting featured the presentation of our 2026 Scholarship winners, who had also been invited to join members for dinner at this evening event. Nico Borelli from Bethesda Chevy Chase High School, and Jasmine Riad and Jhonatan Diaz from Walter Johnson High School were the final recipients for the Ogle Scholarship. Hannah Meshesha and Tatiana Marie Delgado were the inaugural recipients of the new Woman’s Club of Chevy Chase Scholarship. Thanks to the members of the Scholarship Committee, chaired by Dana Lane and Co-President Diana Ditto, for their hard work in identifying these outstanding students for our awards.

April 25-26, 2026: The Annual Convention of GFWC Maryland Federation of Women’s Clubs, Incorporated, was held in Annapolis, MD. GFWC-WCCC had nearly 40 entries for the statewide Photography Contest! Two of our entries, Penny Amir’s “Reflections of Brunelleschi’s Dome,” and Caren Danies’ “Peace in Quarantine,” won first place in the categories of Reflections and Natural Beauty. Congratulations to our winners!Thanks to all of the other Club members who chose to participate—Jane Boynton, Melissa Watts, Janet Kravis, Caroline McTaggart, Elizabeth McTaggart, and Wilsonia Cherry.

April 25-26, 2026: The 127th Annual Convention of The GFWC Maryland Federation of Woman’s Clubs, Incorporated, was held in Annapolis. Co-Presidents Wilsonia Cherry and Diana Ditto and members Kathy Flaxman and Jane DeAngeli from our Club attended this festive event. Please join club women from around the state in congratulating WCCC’s nominee, Jane DiAngeli, in being named GFWC-Maryland Outstanding Club Woman of the Year!
