Wednesday - Blues Jam Session

If you've ever wondered what happens when you put a world-class keyboard player on stage with a band full of musicians who know how to throw down, you're about to find out.

This week's Jam Session host is none other than Dave Keyes — and folks, just look at this man's résumé.

A native New Yorker, Dave is a keyboardist, singer, songwriter, a 40-year veteran of the Blues and American Roots music scene, and a 4-time Blues Music Award nominee. His latest album, Two Trains, features legendary drummer Bernard Purdie and showcases the soulful sound that has taken Dave around the world as both a solo artist and frontman of the Dave Keyes Band.
But here's the thing... résumés don't tell the whole story.
The minute Dave sits behind those keys, all those years, miles, gigs, and late-night blues joints come pouring out. That's why everyone knows him as the King of the Keys.

And backing him up? Forget about it.
🥁 Vito Luizzi on drums🎸 Joe Taino on guitar🎷 Andy Stahl on sax🎸 Mike Merritt on bass

These aren't musicians who need sheet music and a rehearsal schedule. These are musicians who speak the language of the blues fluently and know exactly how to create the kind of musical magic that keeps people glued to their seats... or dancing in front of the stage.

So if you're a musician, come take your shot on stage.
If you're a music lover, come witness what happens when some seriously talented players decide to let loose.
Meadow Blues Community, let's show these musicians some love and pack the house.

🎶 Doors Open: 5:00 PM🎹 Dave Keyes Takes the Stage: 6:30 PM🍺 $15 Food/Drink Minimum

This isn't just another jam session.
This one has all the ingredients to be absolutely BAD ASS.
See ya then.

People always talk about hearing great music in Chicago, Nashville, Austin, or Memphis. Well, with all due respect, they ain’t got what we’ve got at Meadow Blues in Chester.

We may not have a red carpet, but we’ve got Black Dirt—and around here, that's a whole lot richer.

That’s where Dan Brother and his band come in. These guys don’t just play music; they live it. Every note comes with passion, grit, and enough soul to fill the room twice over.

Last night, Dan took things to another level. When he launched into a Jimi Hendrix tune, the room went dead silent. You know the kind of silence—the one where nobody wants to miss a single note. For a few minutes, it felt like Jimi himself had borrowed Dan’s guitar and taken up residence in his soul.

Then there was Eric on bass, laying down those deep, thumping grooves that hit you right in the chest. More than once, you could hear folks shout, "Right on!" because they simply couldn't help themselves.

Roger got the nod from Dan and, good Lord, the man went to work. He attacked those drums with the confidence of someone who knew he was absolutely locked in. That grin on his face said it all—he knew the groove was cooking.

And Andy on sax? He brought that gritty, soulful sound that tied everything together perfectly. The sax danced around the band, adding just the right amount of attitude and swagger.

Bottom line: they absolutely nailed it.
A huge thank you to the Meadow Blues Community for showing up, supporting live music, and helping create nights like this. None of it happens without you.

And don't worry—you haven't seen the last of Dan Brother.

🎉 Dan returns on August 22 for his 40th Birthday Bash, and if last night was any indication, this is one you do NOT want to miss.

Friday, May 29

Friday night at Meadow Blues, Mr. Dan Brothers is bringing his soulful, charismatic, guitar-slinging, singing self to create THAT vibe we all know and love. The kind of vibe where one minute you’re politely sipping a drink… and the next minute you’re dancing next to somebody’s aunt you just met 10 minutes ago.

But Dan can’t do this alone…

On bass, Eric Winter — and y’all, this man can PLAY. Last time he hit the stage at Meadow Blues, he literally got me out of my seat. I don’t even remember standing up. One minute I was sitting, the next minute I was moving like I knew what I was doing.

Roger Voss takes over the drums, which means the room is absolutely gonna be rockin’ all night long.

And then there’s Andy Stahl on sax, bringing that smooth, breathy, airy sound that sneaks right into your soul and refuses to leave.

There is absolutely NO reason to miss this show. None. Zero. Not even “I’m tired” counts this Friday.

Dan’s got funk, soul, blues, southern rock, Texas twang, psychedelic grooves… and rumor has it he knows ONE country song. We’re not exactly sure where it appears in the set, but if you hear it, consider yourself lucky. It’s basically the Meadow Blues version of spotting Bigfoot.

Suggested Donation $20 — brown box at the door

Last night’s Jam Session had that sweet old-school rock ’n roll magic that makes you forget what day it is. Michael, Andrei, James, and Andy lit up the stage and kept the room moving. People were swaying back and forth, tapping tables, singing along, and soaking in every note like it was a backyard party.

Just pure feel-good energy, and a room full of people riding the same groove together.

Next week the keys are in the hands of the one and only Dave Keyes hosting the jam. You already know it’s going to be smokin’.

Wednesday @ 6:30

This week’s Jam Session is gonna be a special one, y’all. We’re officially handing the keys over to Michael Lawlor for his FIRST time hosting the Meadow Blues Jam Session… so let’s try not to scare him off in the first 10 minutes. Backing Michael this week will be Andrei on drums laying down the groove and Andy on sax bringing that soulful heat. Between Michael’s guitar riffs, Andy’s sax lines, and Andrei driving the rhythm, this thing might shake the walls loose at Meadow Blues. If the windows start rattling… that just means the band is warmed up.

And Michael? Ohhh he’s about to catch the Meadow Blues Jam Bite.

Michael Lawlor has been tearing up the tri-state music scene since the early 80’s with playing that runs from smooth, soulful blues to straight-up face-melting liquid lightning riffs. The man won the national Guitarmageddon competition in 2000, opened for Stone Temple Pilots at the Avalon Ballroom in Boston, and then Fender flew him out to California to build his own custom-designed Stratocaster. That’s right… some people get a participation trophy — Michael got his own damn guitar built by Fender.

So musicians… bring your chops, bring your groove, bring your weird uncle’s harmonica if you have to. And Meadow Blues Community, let’s give Michael the full Meadow Blues welcome — loud applause, packed room, dancing feet, and enough love to make him wonder why he didn’t host sooner.

Jam kicks off at 6:30

Thank you Sawyer for an absolutely amazing performance. You got up there and owned that stage like you’ve been doing it for years. The way you played that sax had the whole room locked in — smooth, soulful, confident, and beyond your years. Folks were smiling, tapping their feet, and looking at each other like, “Are we really watching a seventh grader play like this?”

You’ve got something special, Sawyer. Keep practicing, keep chasing the music, and keep believing in yourself because you are definitely going places. We’re all proud to say we saw you here first at Meadow Blues. And when you win that first Grammy, just remember the little blues shop that was cheering you on from day one.

To the Meadow Blues Community — THANK YOU. The love and support you showed Sawyer means more than you know. Showing up, clapping loud, encouraging Sawyer, and filling the room with positive energy helps keep music alive for the next generation. That’s what community is all about.

We know y’all already marked your calendars… this is just your friendly reminder so nobody pulls the “wait… THAT was tonight?!” excuse.

Sawyer McElroy — the young musical powerhouse who plays the sax and piano — hits the stage at 6:00 PM tonight at Meadow Blues.

And trust us… this kid isn’t just talented, he’s got that real-deal music soul that makes a room stop talking and start listening. It’s a huge honor to have Sawyer perform at Meadow Blues and support young musicians chasing the art.

Come cheer him on, grab a drink, smile a lot, and help make this a night Sawyer never forgets.

When Tony Vee hosts the Jam, you better stretch first… because you NEVER know who’s gonna walk through the door.

Well last night the one and only Popa Chubby rolled into Meadow Blues ready to throw down. He came lookin’ for somebody to “Scratch His Back,” and lawd have mercy, the audience did exactly that. One song in and the room was hotter than July asphalt. Folks were groovin’, shakin’, hollerin’, and forgettin’ they had work in the morning.

Then near the end of the night, Tony starts calling a whole crowd of musicians up on stage. I’m lookin’ around thinkin’, “Well… this is it. Tony’s gonna quiet things down and send us home with a little kumbaya moment.” With that many people on stage, I thought for sure they were about to break into “We Are The World” and hand out candles.

HELL NO.
Tony caught that full-on James Brown BITE, counted it off, and BAM — they launched into “Gonna Have a Funky Good Time” like the building owed them money. That’s the magic of these Wednesday night jams — no script, no rules, just musicians showin’ up ready to light the fuse.

Next Wednesday the Jam keeps rollin’ with Mike Lawlor hosting the madness. Y’all better come early… because apparently ANYTHING can happen at Meadow Blues.
