Avonte Barr returns to the ring on February 7th at the Sound Waves Theater inside Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Atlantic City for R&B Promotions Presents: Fight Night 5 — and this one is personal.

Barr is a product of ABC Recreation Center in North Philadelphia, where he trains under the watchful eye of Fred Jenkins, a place that doesn’t produce hype, just fighters. He’s someone I’ve had the opportunity to work with multiple times, and every time he’s stepped through the ropes for me, he’s done exactly what a professional is supposed to do — show up prepared and compete.

Avonte isn’t flashy, and he doesn’t need to be. He’s a gladiator — built for the grind, willing to take the hard fights, and comfortable in uncomfortable moments. Fighters like him are the backbone of real boxing shows, and that’s why he continues to earn opportunities on my cards.

February 7th is another test, another stage, and another chance for Avonte Barr to do what he does best — fight.
