So happy to have participated in last night's 80 themed Family Annual Art Gala and Auction. Hostess by by the of South Sound
I'm so happy to have been a small part of such a life changing event. Watching all the work it takes to form such an event throughout the year, I am continuously impressed by the combined efforts of the staff and would love to take this time to show them all some recognition, even if the entire list of involved persons is to vast to mention directly here. It couldn't have happened without each and every one of you.
Last year the event contributed tremendous funding towards a housing development in West Olympia near the FSC offices.
I got to be a part of this in my small way by contributing my art to the walls of the Landing. I was there to watch the Grand opening ceremony, and capture the essence of that day permanently in a painting that will remain there welcoming people into their new home. The rest of the art there, however will be rotated out, making space for a new artist to fill, as this year a brand new housing development is forming.
That being said, I am happy to introduce a few new faces this year. Pulled directly from the organization
Artist Matt Corry joined me this year in donating his stunning representation of the heart in the family support center logo. He is an artist who I found independently donating his art towards a good cause, and I hand picked him to be a part of my organization. Since then he has helped as a member of Suspended Surplus in many charity based events, and I am honored to introduce him to the FAC staff.
I hope that his efforts show in future consideration of the artist that might take my place.
Our newest member of Suspended Surplus came out with willing hands to help how he could, and while he normally acts as a musical talent, he found his artistic skills useful in making our giant pac man wall as featured in the photos.
I thank each and every one of you who came out to show your support. And to encourage all of you out there who missed it this year to come be a part of it next time.
Seeing the video footage of the people who have moved in to the Landing was absolutely so moving. It's a great reminder of who we're helping and how much it means for us to come together as a community to show our support.
Please enjoy these photos taken of last night's event. All live painting photo credits taken by
Keyla Cea-Benites, who has worked tremendously hard on this event all year and deserves a shout out as well.
The painting I donated was the Neverland meets Goonies tree house scene based off of a painting done for the woman who puts these events together, Maija Glasier Lawson (the real magician behind the curtain)
There's always a way to become involved in making the life of someone else a little better.
