This coming weekend, Maddy and Zach are officially tying the knot! 🍇✨

Their story started with a little encouragement from Maddy’s dad before she moved from Arizona to Virginia—and less than a month after she arrived, they were on their first date. Fast forward to her nursing school graduation party in Fork Union, where Zach completely surprised her with a secret proposal surrounded by their closest family and friends.

When we captured their Save the Date engagement session last fall, they brought so many incredible personal details. Maddy's mom created a lovely fresh bouquet right there on site, and the couple toasted to their upcoming chapter with custom w**e glasses, a blanket among the vines, and a specially labeled bottle featuring their wedding date.

Windswept mountain views, a father-of-the-bride offering his wallet, Duke the dog on ring duty, a rainbow during the reception, and sparklers in the rain. Kara & Alex’s celebration at Cross Keys Barn was continuous high energy from start to finish.

Throwing it back to last November for Connor's chilly sunrise session at the UVA Rotunda! ❄️ High school senior year flies by so fast—it’s hard to believe this was almost a year ago and Connor is now officiallya college student!

From braving the 40-degree morning air in a denim jacket to rocking a sharp navy suit as the sun came up, he handled the whole shoot like a total pro (with his awesome mom cheering him on from the sidelines).

Ever since she was young, Jordan knew she wanted to say "I do" at Seay Point on Lake Anna. Watching her and Ian—her best friend of over seven and a half years—celebrate their wedding day right along that same shoreline was an absolute honor!

Their day was filled with so much intention and faith: guests signed a keepsake Bible, gathered by a gold arched display for welcome drinks, and watched them braid three cords during their lakeside ceremony. Jordan wore a breathtaking woven floral jacquard ballgown, and while guests dined under the reception tent, we snuck down to the water where the ambient light off the white canvas created the most incredible, dramatic glow for their portraits.

From leaving him on read to saying YES on the beach! 💍✨ Alex and Kara’s Charlottesville engagement session was an absolute dream from start to finish. We explored the brick pathways of the Downtown Mall before heading to the park at Pantops for some scenic views—and of course, their adorable cream Golden Retriever, Duke, stole the show! 🐾 (A huge shoutout to Kara’s mom for being the ultimate puppy handler behind the scenes!)

From late-night college FaceTime calls to planning a wedding at Lake Anna, Jordan and Ian’s story is rooted in seven and a half years of true best-friendship.

When they aren't working hard in their careers, you can usually find them thrifting for hidden gems on the weekends, relaxing on their deck with their pets, or cooking up new recipes together. Jordan even incorporated her love for thrifting right into her engagement outfit for their session at Maymont in Richmond, and the results were completely effortless and chic!

We spent the most wonderful afternoon wandering through the Maymont grounds, celebrating this sweet season before they officially say "I do."

They say "all the world's a stage," and Raichyl definitely brought the talent to her senior session at Miller School! 🎭 As a drama club member, her expressions were absolutely effortless, making my job behind the lens so much fun.

Even with a little bit of mother-daughter banter about outfit choices (we’ve all been there, right? 😂), the gallery turned out absolutely breathtaking. We even discovered we share a mutual love for the art of calligraphy! Raichyl, you are a total star. Check out more from her beautiful campus session on the blog!

A look back at a very special milestone... ✨

While her birthday party theme was "Wild One," for her actual portrait session last August, we went with something a bit more timeless and boho.

I loved collaborating with my sister (G Momma) and my niece Salim, (Teagan's mom) on this one! Shara and Salim were the ultimate stylists, bringing along a teepee, lantern, a tiny purse, and even a rocking cow. Shara even baked the cake for the "smash"—though Teagan was much more interested in inspecting the frosting than actually wearing it! 🎂

Going back through the archives today to share a favorite from last spring! 🌿✨

Lucy and her friends had quite the adventure for their UVA graduation celebration. Between shuttle delays and spring showers, we had to think fast—and I am so glad we did! We moved the entire session to their dinner destination at The Farmhouse at Veritas, and the timing couldn't have been better.

A huge thank you to the wonderful staff at Veritas for being so incredibly gracious and welcoming to us on short notice. We spent the evening capturing family legacies and celebratory toasts in that stunning, post-rain light. Congratulations again to these four impressive graduates! 🎓🥂Sometimes the most beautiful sessions come from the most unexpected pivots! 🌿✨

Throwback to Rain, Daisies, and 50 Years of the Janecko Family 🌼

Taking a look back at one of my favorite sessions from last August! The Janecko family traded their usual beach vacation for the Elkton mountains to celebrate a huge milestone: a 50th wedding anniversary. 🏔️

I still remember the nerves checking the radar as the thunderstorms rolled in! We took a gamble on the weather, and it paid off with the most incredible golden hour light. We even included daisies to match the ones from the grandparents’ wedding day 50 years ago.
