How has it been a whole year since this magical weekend?!

We LOVED this day, the amazing vendor team, and the sweet couple so, so in love.

When planning a wedding, every little choice counts, and with a multi-day celebration, managing logistics is crucial. Our team divided and conquered aspects of this wedding, which allowed us to be ready for anything that the weekend threw at us (lots and lots of rain). With multi-day celebrations, we treat the weekend like a cohesive story while treating each event as its own special entity.

Meeting Emily was love at first sight - her humor, her tenacity, and her sweetness. We met at an Advertising Club of Richmond event where she said “I need a job!” and I promptly said she needed to join the Ad Club board and to come work with me.

She was incredible at weddings - pictured here is Ryan and Meg’s where we had to flip the room with guests present. Emily had the genius idea to use the giant basket I brought for favors to make the room flip more ✨aesthetic.✨

While applying for big girl jobs, she worked as my assistant going above and beyond on wedding days and earning a special place in my heart as well as my family’s (my parents call her a Little Emily or Baby Emily 🥹).

Fast forward to now she is dear friend, and I have the honor of planning her wedding. There is nothing I love more about this job than planning the wedding of someone I know and love. Getting to know her man and her parents through this process has been such a how and I just know her day is going to be the best day!!!!

This weekend, I will be out of town on her bachelorette and as I write this, I am overly emotional at how far we’ve come and how grateful I am for this perfect little human in my life and to be a part of her celebration in more ways than one!

I want wait to celebrate you angel em 🤍🍒✨

It’s the best time of year!!! And yes, that means pumpkin spice season. 🍂 🎃✨

Did you know pumpkins were used as an invitation or save-the-date of sorts during Victorian times?

Neither did we, until we started seeking inspiration for Amy and Meredith’s wedding.

They came to us with a simple request: rainbow, but classy. A little fall, but not too much.

I found inspiration in one of my favorite works at one of my favorite museums: "Sappho and Erinna in a Garden at Mytilene," painted by Simeon Solomon in 1864 and now held at Tate Britain.

From there, I went down the rabbit hole: watching old films, reading books, studying art, and yes, reading historical records on JSTOR.

We titled the wedding The Victorian Era.

There was something deeply comforting about researching the history of q***r love stories during a time that can feel so saturated with archaic political narratives.

What came of this was more than a visual direction. It became a visual representation - a quiet protest, an if you know, you know - rooted in the simple truth that q***r love stories have been told for hundreds of years.

And they will continue to be told for hundreds more.

Sometimes I look at these when I need to cry.

When I need to remember why I love this work. When I need to believe in love - the lasting kind. Partnership, friendship, devotion, and yes, romance.

I look at the groom’s face. The bride’s face. And my honestly, my own.

Because there is a particular kind of emotion in this moment of the ceremony.

When everything goes quiet for a second. When the room is full of anticipation, and your heart (and mine) feels so full!

There is nothing better than witnessing two people choose each other and knowing you had a small part in creating the space for that moment to happen.

The kind of feeling you remember. The kind you can still feel years later.

For this plated dinner, we pre-set each place setting so service could move quickly and efficiently when the original “decoy place setting” plan had to change.

Behind the scenes, we work closely with the venue, catering team, and every vendor to solve problems as they arise, so your guests can enjoy the experience, you can be fully present in your day, and the essence of the celebration never gets lost in the logistics.

Because a well-planned wedding isn’t one where nothing changes. It’s one where you never have to know that it did.
