SZA (along with so many other artists) found out that 238 of her songs were used to train an AI music model without her consent. Some of them were unreleased. Her response was (understandably) not calm. "If you're a musician and you support this degenerate s**t? You're disgusting and there's NOTHING YOU COULD EVER SAY TO ME TO MAKE THIS OKAY."
She also called out Diplo specifically for his ties to AI music platform Suno, and made a broader point that cuts deep: Black artists make up 13% of the US population but shape global sound and culture, yet have the least protection legally, medically, or creatively. "I AIN'T HEARD A WHITE AI SONG YET. We have no protection in legislature medical or creative. The easiest to steal from. DO NOT GIVE AWAY YOUR VIBRANIUM."
Diplo, for his part, previously told creatives to "adapt or give up and become an Uber driver."
