I always fan-girled when I ran into Chef Elle Simone Scott. Though we met in college, our real connection came years later through her organization, SheChef. Beyond the kitchen, she was also my Soror and in a beautiful twist, we crossed on the same day, fulfilling our lifelong dream of becoming members of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.

In a very white, male-driven field, it was a joy to watch the most decorated chefs in the room give her the respect she so effortlessly commanded. Humble. Brilliant. She truly lived her “dash”, full of purpose, impact, and accomplishments that will live on through all she touched.

Love and heartfelt prayers to her family and closest friends. 🤍❤️🕊️

Thank you so much to everyone who walked, donated, and prayed! We truly appreciate you! Special thanks to Spec Keisha Davis for encouraging me to be part of Relay for Life. I’m so grateful and already inspired with ideas for next year! The luminary ceremony was incredibly moving and nearly brought me to tears.

Thank you to my wonderful Sorors who brought the vibes, chairs, and drinks! I love you all to pieces!!

Thank you to my wonderful students who keep me young and on my toes for coming out to walk. They keep me laughing!!

Please continue to support the American Cancer Society. My mom and I have personally benefited from their services—from flights to treatment to staying at the Hope Lodge in Atlanta. I’m continuing to pray for the survivors, those still fighting, the caregivers, the families, and in remembrance of those we’ve lost.

Thank you again for standing with us. Let’s keep fighting together!

Keep fighting Mama!!! May God continue to give you the strength!!!

Cancer has taken too much from my family.
That’s why I’m walking in Relay for Life
April 26 | 2–10PM | Memorial Stadium

In 2021, I lost my dad and found he had cancer—
2 months later, my mom was diagnosed.
3 weeks after that, my stepdad.
In 2024, my mom’s cancer came back…
Stage 4. It spread to her lungs.
She lost 2 sisters and a nephew within weeks.
And now—her chemo isn’t working.

Cancer has devastated my family.
But I refuse to give up this fight.
That’s why I Relay.
For my mom.
For my family.
For every person cancer has touched.
